About Beckon
Beckon them in. Bring them back.

We create culture-rich spaces that make people feel something and keep them coming back.
Beckon brings together design, brand, furniture, and workplace strategy to create distinctive spaces that help organizations attract people, strengthen culture, and deliver better experiences.

We're building a company with a clear point of view, high standards, and an ambitious vision for what commercial spaces can be.

We're also building a team of smart, resourceful people who take pride in their work and want to contribute to something meaningful.

If you're proactive, detail-oriented, dependable, and excited to grow alongside a U.S.-based company, we'd love to meet you.
The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced, dependable bookkeeper in the Philippines to help maintain accurate financial records and support Beckon's day-to-day accounting operations.

This is a part-time role starting at approximately five hours per week. As Beckon grows, there may be opportunities to take on additional responsibilities and expand your contribution.

This is not an entry-level bookkeeping position or a general virtual assistant role.

We need someone who understands bookkeeping fundamentals, is comfortable working in QuickBooks, and can manage financial tasks independently with minimal supervision.

You don't need to know everything on Day One. You do need to be resourceful, organized, accountable, and willing to investigate when something doesn't look right.

Above all, you take ownership of accuracy.

What You'll Do

Day-to-Day Bookkeeping

• Prepare and send client invoices.
• Coordinate vendor bill payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Communicate professionally with clients and vendors by email and phone regarding invoices, collections, payments, and accounting questions.
• Record and categorize income, expenses, purchases, and other financial transactions.
• Maintain accurate, organized financial records, including the general ledger and chart of accounts.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, loan balances, and other balance sheet accounts as applicable.
• Track accounts receivable and accounts payable.
• Record customer receipts and vendor payments.

Financial Reporting and Month-End Support

• Prepare monthly financial statements, including the Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet.
• Prepare cash flow statements where applicable.
• Review general ledger accounts and balances for accuracy.
• Investigate discrepancies and prepare necessary adjusting journal entries.
• Track prepaid expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and depreciation as applicable.
• Support month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Prepare supporting schedules and financial records for Beckon's CPA or tax preparer.
• Coordinate with the CPA or tax preparer on bookkeeping and accounting matters.

Process Improvement and Ownership

• Identify missing information, unusual transactions, and potential errors.
• Follow through on outstanding items rather than waiting for reminders.
• Help maintain consistent bookkeeping procedures and improve organization as needed.
• Communicate proactively about discrepancies, delays, and anything that requires clarification.

Required Skills and Experience

We're looking for someone who can manage financial records accurately, work independently, and communicate clearly.
You must have:

• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Previous professional experience in bookkeeping or accounting support.
• Extensive hands-on experience with QuickBooks.
• Experience supporting a U.S.-based business.
• A solid understanding of bookkeeping principles and financial transaction recording.
• Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Working knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger processes.
• Experience preparing monthly financial statements.
• Familiarity with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
• Experience coordinating with a CPA or tax preparer.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
• Strong numerical accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
• The ability to investigate discrepancies, resolve routine issues, and know when to ask questions.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• The ability to handle confidential financial information responsibly.

Availability is essential.

You must be able to handle time-sensitive bookkeeping tasks and communicate with clients, vendors, and team members during designated hours between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time. This is particularly important for invoicing, bill payments, collections, and other tasks that cannot always wait until the next business day.

The Person We're Looking For

Skills matter. Mindset matters more.

You're someone who:

• Takes responsibility for commitments and follows through.
• Communicates openly, honestly, and proactively.
• Takes initiative instead of waiting for instructions.
• Investigates problems and looks for answers before escalating them.
• Notices inconsistencies and cares enough to resolve them.
• Creates order, maintains organized records, and looks for ways to improve processes.
• Thinks critically and exercises good judgment.
• Understands the importance of accuracy, confidentiality, and trust.
• Is comfortable learning new tools and adapting as the company grows.
• Takes pride in doing excellent work, even when no one is watching.
• Wants to build a long-term working relationship rather than pursue a temporary freelance project.

If your first instinct when something doesn't look right is:

“I'll investigate and make sure it's accurate.”
—you may be exactly who we're looking for.

Compensation and Growth

The starting compensation is $5 USD per hour for the first 90 days, with an initial commitment of approximately five hours per week.

Performance-based increases may be considered based on the quality and accuracy of your work, reliability, initiative, and overall contribution to the business. Increases are not automatic or guaranteed.

We're a growing company, and our needs will evolve. We're looking for someone who can establish a strong foundation, earn trust through consistent performance, and grow with us as opportunities develop.

A Note About Working at Beckon

As a startup, we sometimes wear multiple hats. From time to time, that means helping beyond the traditional boundaries of a role when the needs of the business call for it.

We value team members who understand the bigger picture, communicate openly, and are willing to contribute where they can make the greatest difference.

That doesn't mean doing everything. It means taking ownership, using good judgment, and caring about the success of the team.

We're building more than a business. We're building the systems, relationships, and culture that will support its long-term success.

We want people who are excited to be part of that journey.

Attention to Detail: Application Requirement

To demonstrate that you've read this entire job description, begin your application with the word “Outstanding.”
Applications that do not begin with this word may not be considered.

How to Apply

Please submit your application with:

• A brief introduction about yourself and your bookkeeping experience.
• A summary of your QuickBooks experience and the types of U.S. businesses you've supported.
• A description of your experience with bank reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end closing.
• Confirmation that you can handle time-sensitive tasks during the required Pacific Time availability window.
• Your confirmation that the starting compensation and initial weekly hours work for you.

We're looking for someone who wants to become a trusted part of Beckon's team for years—not someone looking for just another short-term project.

If you're experienced, dependable, detail-oriented, and excited to help build something with long-term potential, we want to hear from you.

Outstanding candidates don't just keep the books. They take ownership of getting the numbers right.
