About Us:
Michaud CPAs is a U.S.-focused accounting and fractional CFO firm that provides outsourced accounting and financial management services to growing businesses.
We are looking for a reliable, detail-oriented bookkeeper to join our remote accounting team. You will primarily support an established U.S. brewery business, working under the supervision of our Accounting Team Lead.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys organized, accurate bookkeeping, understands accounting systems, and takes ownership of recurring daily and weekly responsibilities.
We are looking for a long-term team member who is dependable, communicates proactively, and takes pride in producing accurate work.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounts Payable and Bookkeeping
- Enter vendor bills accurately and promptly in the accounting system.
- Verify invoice information, identify potential duplicates, and ensure proper expense coding.
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records and supporting documentation.
- Follow established AP procedures, including submitting exceptions for review.
- Record and categorize routine financial transactions.
- Assist with accounts receivable and other assigned bookkeeping activities.
2. Daily Accounting System Integration Monitoring
- Perform daily checks to ensure that accounting systems and integrated applications are synchronizing properly.
- Verify that expected transactions have transferred correctly between systems.
- Identify missing transactions, duplicate entries, failed integrations, and other synchronization discrepancies.
- Investigate routine issues and escalate complex problems to the accounting team.
- Maintain a daily checklist documenting completed integration checks and outstanding issues.
3. Reconciliations and Accounting Support
- Perform assigned routine bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations.
- Assist with monthly accounting schedules and documentation.
- Investigate and resolve routine discrepancies.
- Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documents.
- Assist the accounting team with additional bookkeeping tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications
- At least two years of professional bookkeeping experience.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online or comparable accounting software.
- Solid understanding of accounts payable, transaction coding, and basic accounting principles.
- Experience performing bank and credit card reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, follow established procedures, and meet recurring deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with U.S. accounting firms or U.S.-based businesses.
- Experience monitoring accounting software integrations.
- Familiarity with businesses that manage inventory.
- Experience identifying and resolving accounting discrepancies.
Work Schedule and Compensation
- Approximately 15 hours per week.
- You must be available Monday through Friday to complete daily tasks.
- All working hours must fall between 7:00 AM and 12:00 noon U.S. Eastern Time.
- Compensation: $6–$8 USD per hour, depending on experience.
