JOB OVERVIEW

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly organized, accurate, and trustworthy Bookkeeper to maintain financial records, reconcile accounts, monitor transactions, track invoices and payments, and provide reliable financial information to management.
The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepancies rather than simply enter transactions. The candidate must be comfortable investigating problems, asking questions, maintaining documentation, and protecting confidential financial information.

Key Responsibilities

Record and categorize financial transactions accurately.
Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable records.
Reconcile bank accounts and credit-card accounts.
Track invoices, payments, outstanding balances, and receipts.
Maintain organized financial documentation.
Identify and investigate discrepancies.
Prepare recurring financial reports and summaries.
Maintain financial spreadsheets.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
Monitor outstanding receivables and payables.
Assist with payroll-related bookkeeping as needed.
Maintain accurate electronic and physical records.
Communicate with vendors, staff, management, and accounting professionals as necessary.
Assist with financial audits and information requests.
Maintain confidentiality of financial and business information.
Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes and controls.
Required Qualifications
At least 10 years of bookkeeping or accounting-related experience.
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles.
Experience with account reconciliation.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate their cause.
Ability to maintain accurate records.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Ability to meet recurring deadlines.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software.
Experience in healthcare or professional services.
Experience with payroll.
Experience with accounts payable and receivable.
Experience preparing management reports.
Experience working with government contracts or grant-funded organizations.
Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Candidate

We need someone who notices when something does not make sense, investigates discrepancies, maintains documentation, asks appropriate questions, and communicates problems before they become larger problems and has expertise using Quickbooks.
The candidate must be trustworthy, accurate, organized, and comfortable taking ownership of financial responsibilities and communicate report accordingly to the different parties.
