# Automation Systems Engineer (n8n + Data Integration)

**U.S.-based global B2B tech distributor** hiring an Automation Systems Engineer to design, build, and maintain production-grade automation systems across marketing, sales, and operations.

**Primary platform focus:** You’ll be building a vendor product feed platform that ingests, parses, maps, and reformats product data from multiple suppliers—handling complex price calculations, SKU normalization, inventory sync, and system integration at scale.

**Beyond that:** You’ll build and maintain sales automation, CRM workflows, lead generation pipelines, lead scoring and prioritization systems, outbound sequences, AI-powered content generation workflows in support of marketing and operations, reporting dashboards, and operational systems that keep the business running efficiently.

This role is **architecture-first**. Your primary responsibility is n8n-based automation reliability and scalability. Other tools support that core.

You will build intelligent workflows that connect AI, data, CRMs, and marketing systems using no-code, low-code, and targeted scripting where required.

## RESPONSIBILITIES

**Primary (Non-Negotiable)**

- Design, build, and maintain production n8n automations
- Build and scale vendor product feed ingestion pipelines—parsing CSVs, XML, JSON, and API feeds from multiple suppliers
- Implement complex data mapping, transformation, and normalization logic (SKU matching, price calculation formulas, inventory reconciliation)
- Automate lead generation, enrichment, scoring, and prioritization workflows
- Build AI-powered content generation workflows in support of marketing and operations
- Automate CRM workflows, outbound sequences, and reporting
- Own workflow reliability, error handling, monitoring, and recovery
- Implement API- and webhook-based integrations across systems
- Use Google Apps Script for advanced Google Workspace automations, edge cases, and glue logic where no-code tools fall short (JavaScript-based scripting is expected; Python-only candidates are not a fit)
- Document workflows, logic, dependencies, and rollback plans
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation failures, including off-hours support for critical systems

**Secondary**

- Integrate AI models (OpenAI, Claude) into workflows with structured prompt logic and content generation pipelines
- Evaluate and selectively use emerging AI-assisted dev tools (e.g., Cursor, Replit Agents) when they improve reliability or speed
- Continuously optimize performance, cost, and maintainability

## ARCHITECTURE & AUTHORITY

- Architecture standards, naming conventions, and deployment rules are predefined
- No production deployment without documented approval
- You optimize and execute within defined architectural constraints
- This is not a freestyle or experimental role

## REQUIREMENTS

- 3–4+ years building production-grade business automations
- Proven, real-world n8n production experience (required)
- **Strong experience with data transformation workflows:** parsing complex feeds, mapping fields, handling inconsistent formats, building calculation logic
- **Experience with AI-powered content generation:** integrating GPT/Claude APIs for text, images, or video in automation workflows
- Strong comfort with REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication
- Google Apps Script experience for Workspace automation
- Experience with CRM + outbound automation systems
- Strong written English and technical documentation skills
- Self-directed, accountable, and comfortable owning system reliability

**Bonus:**

- Experience building product feed or inventory sync systems
- Familiarity with e-commerce or wholesale distribution data structures
- Experience with lead scoring models or predictive prioritization logic

## COMMITMENT & WORK STRUCTURE

**This is a single, full-time commitment.**

- You will not hold other employment during work hours (10am–6pm ET)
- Hubstaff time tracking is mandatory with screenshots and activity monitoring enabled
- You must be reachable on Slack within 5 minutes during core hours
- Video calls with camera on are standard and expected
- Off-hours critical support availability is required (compensated separately)

**We will know if you’re splitting focus.** Production systems fail when attention is divided. If you’re looking for side-hustle flexibility or juggling multiple roles, this isn’t the right fit.

## TRIAL & ONBOARDING

- **7-day paid trial** ($350 flat, ~$50/day equivalent)
- **Assignment:** Build and document a production n8n workflow to spec—involving data ingestion, transformation, and system integration
- **Evaluated on:** architecture, error handling, documentation, and delivery speed
- **Pass** = immediate full-time offer at agreed rate
- **Start date** within 5 business days of trial completion

- **Full-Time | Remote (Philippines)**
- **USD $2,200–$2,500/month**, based on skill and performance
- Compensation reflects Philippines-based senior automation rates with growth upside for long-term ownership
