About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Solar AutoCAD Designer with a strong background in electrical drafting and solar design. The ideal candidate will be a plug-and-play professional who can independently produce high-quality, code-compliant solar designs with minimal supervision. This role requires someone who is detail-oriented, efficient, and experienced in both residential and commercial solar projects—including Tesla Powerwall 3, ground-mount systems, roof-mounted PV systems, and advanced electrical layouts.
Key Responsibilities
Create detailed and accurate AutoCAD drawings for residential and commercial solar PV systems.
Design electrical layouts, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams (SLDs) in compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility standards.
Develop technical designs for Tesla Powerwall 3, ground-mount solar arrays, and battery storage systems.
Ensure all solar system designs meet structural, electrical, and permitting requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and permitting specialists to deliver complete design packages.
Update and revise drawings based on feedback from AHJs, engineers, and installation teams.
Maintain design accuracy and quality while working on multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of proven AutoCAD experience (electrical design or solar PV required).
Strong understanding of solar PV system design, NEC codes, and AHJ permitting requirements.
Experience designing Tesla Powerwall 3, energy storage systems, ground mounts, and advanced electrical components.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and related drafting tools.
Familiarity with solar racking systems, inverters, and interconnection methods.
Strong technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and deliver plug-and-play, permit-ready designs with minimal supervision.
Preferred Skills
Knowledge of SolarEdge, Enphase, and Tesla system components.
Experience with structural design basics (roof loading, ground-mount foundations).
Familiarity with permitting software/portals (SolarAPP+, AHJ portals).
Strong organizational skills to handle multiple design projects at once.
