Reynolds Engineering Company is seeking a full-time architectural and structural drafter to assist with residential and small commercial projects.
Our work generally involves preparing architectural and structural plans for building permit applications. Typical projects include renovations, additions, changes in use, structural repairs, and modifications to existing buildings, with a focus on masonry and wood-frame construction.
Responsibilities:
-Prepare architectural and structural drawings using AutoCAD and Revit
-Develop existing and proposed floor plans, building elevations, and architectural details
-Prepare foundation plans, structural framing plans, and structural details
-Produce coordinated drawing sets for building permit applications
-Revise plans based on field measurements, photographs, sketches, markups, and engineering direction
-Interpret existing building conditions and develop drawings when complete information is not readily available
-Gather relevant information from photographs, available property records, online resources, manufacturer information, and other project documentation
-Work through project-specific construction details with the project engineer and identify conditions requiring additional information or field verification
-Coordinate architectural layouts with structural requirements
-Assist with revisions and responses to permit review comments
-Help maintain company drawing standards, standard details, and project files
Qualifications:
-Experience preparing architectural and structural construction drawings
-Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit
-Experience with masonry and wood-frame construction
-Ability to read and understand architectural and structural plans
-Ability to evaluate available information, research existing conditions, and work through details without always receiving complete drafting markups
-Good judgment in recognizing when information is missing or when additional direction or field verification is needed
-Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate, organized drawing sets
-Familiarity with residential and small commercial construction
-Ability to manage multiple assignments and work independently while communicating questions as they arise
Experience with structural engineering or structural design is preferred. The ideal candidate will be able to understand structural conditions, work through basic framing and construction issues, and assist in developing appropriate structural details rather than only drafting completed markups.
Familiarity with the International Building Code, International Residential Code, and other applicable building codes is also preferred. Experience with load-bearing masonry, wood framing, steel framing, foundations, and structural repairs would be particularly helpful.
This is a full-time employee position. Please submit a resume and examples of relevant architectural or structural drafting work.
