A boutique United States architecture firm specializing in high end custom homes, commercial development, adaptive reuse, and interior projects is seeking an experienced Architectural Designer based in the Philippines.
The firm’s approach emphasizes thoughtful design, contextual sensitivity, material quality, sustainability, and the careful integration of design with construction.
The company’s identity and project information will be disclosed to qualified candidates during the interview process.
Position Summary
The Architectural Designer will work remotely with the Principal Architect and project consultants to develop design concepts, prepare architectural drawings, produce construction documents, coordinate project information, and support projects from initial design through construction.
This position requires more than software proficiency. The successful candidate must understand architectural documentation, recognize coordination issues, follow design direction accurately, manage deadlines, and communicate proactively. Candidates must be comfortable working independently in a remote environment without requiring constant supervision.
Primary Responsibilities
Develop architectural plans, elevations, sections, details, diagrams, and presentation materials.
Prepare drawing sets for schematic design, design development, permit submission, bidding, and construction.
Translate sketches, markups, reference materials, and verbal direction from the Principal Architect into accurate architectural documents.
Create three dimensional models, renderings, material studies, and client presentation materials.
Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, consistency, and constructability before submission.
Research applicable building codes, zoning requirements, planning restrictions, materials, products, and construction methods.
Coordinate architectural drawings with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, interior design, landscape, and other consultant documents.
Identify drawing conflicts, missing information, and potential construction issues before they affect a project.
Revise documents based on internal reviews, consultant coordination, agency comments, and construction related questions.
Assist with finish selections, material schedules, door and window schedules, product research, and specification information.
Prepare existing condition drawings from photographs, field measurements, surveys, and reference documents.
Support construction administration by organizing submittals, requests for information, meeting notes, drawing revisions, and project records.
Maintain organized digital project files, drawing standards, model standards, and document naming conventions.
Track assigned tasks and deadlines and provide regular progress updates.
Communicate immediately when instructions are unclear, information is missing, or a deadline may be affected.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
At least three years of professional experience with an architectural firm or design practice.
Experience preparing architectural drawings and coordinated construction document sets.
Strong understanding of architectural design, detailing, materials, dimensions, and building systems.
Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawings.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Cloud, or closely comparable architectural software.
Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management.
Ability to interpret sketches, redlines, design direction, and technical comments accurately.
Ability to manage multiple assignments without losing track of revisions, deadlines, or unresolved questions.
Reliable computer equipment and a stable, high speed internet connection suitable for large architectural files and remote meetings.
Availability during the agreed working schedule aligned with Pacific Time.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with high end residential, hospitality, commercial interior, adaptive reuse, or tenant improvement projects.
Experience working remotely with United States architecture, engineering, or construction firms.
Familiarity with United States building codes, zoning requirements, permitting processes, and architectural drawing standards.
Experience coordinating directly with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and other consultants.
Experience with visualization, rendering, and presentation software.
Familiarity with sustainable design principles and modern building technologies.
Experience supporting projects during permitting and construction.
Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and cloud based project collaboration platforms.
Professional Expectations
The selected contractor must demonstrate accountability, initiative, accuracy, and consistent follow through.
This role requires someone who can recognize problems instead of simply completing assigned drafting. The contractor must ask informed questions, confirm priorities, maintain organized documentation, and communicate progress without waiting to be contacted.
All project drawings, designs, models, documents, client information, and company information must be treated as confidential. All work produced under this engagement will remain the property of the company.
