JOB OVERVIEW

Own the entire finance function of an established, profitable Australian consumer products business. All of it - payments, payroll, cashflow, receivables, supplier reconciliation, leave and compliance - plus the analysis on top: forecasting, margin work, supplier negotiation modelling, and the numbers the directors use to make decisions.

You are not on your own. An outsourced partner handles the bookkeeping and provides a financial controller. But you are the finance function inside the business, and you report straight to a director.

About 60% is the rhythm that keeps the business running. Payments most mornings, cashflow updated, payroll every fortnight, reconciliation weekly, month-end monthly. Get it right, get it out on time - a lot of people downstream are waiting on you.

About 30% is working things out. Why is our shipping costing more than we charge for it? What is that supplier rebate really worth before we agree to it? How has this cost been sitting in the wrong account for a year? Which week are we going to be tight, and how early can we see it coming?

The last 10% is making the first 60% smaller and better. Cutting steps out of a process, automating what a machine should be doing, and spending the time you win back on quality.

We have a technical contractor who will build whatever you specify. You will not automate all of it and we are not expecting that - but if you make a daily task disappear, that is a win, and we will not quietly fill the time with something else.

Each part feeds the others - you spot the odd number because you did the reconciliation yourself. The people who do well here want all three: clean books, numbers they actually understand, and something in the business working better because of what they found and then did about it.

We are a team of 18 across Australia and the Philippines. Our Philippine team has been the operational backbone of this business for years - not a support function, the people who run it day to day.

We hold a high standard on the work rather than on hours at a desk, and we back your decisions.

The flip side is that we are direct. You will get clear feedback, and we expect the same back. You can raise a mistake, say you are not sure, or tell a director they are wrong, and none of those cost you anything here. What does not work is quietly letting something slide.

• The daily payment cycle, supplier coordination, receivables and refunds

• Fortnightly payroll submission, with our outsourced bookkeeping team processing the run

• Cashflow forecasting - maintaining it, improving it, and flagging problems before they arrive

• Warranty claim finance with our main supplier, including reconciliation and claim modelling

• Month-end close, the monthly finance report, and the metrics on it

• Leave records, compliance renewals, and software subscription costs

• The relationship with our outsourced finance partner - you run it, not us

• Whatever analysis a director needs, and the analysis nobody asked for but should have

• ??? ????? ??????. When someone owes you something and the date passes, you follow up the next day, without agonising about whether they will find it annoying. This matters more in this role than almost anything else.

• ??? ?? ???????. The best work in this seat comes from noticing something odd in the numbers and following it before anyone asks you to.

• 3+ years owning a finance or accounts function in a real operating business - not a bookkeeping seat inside a larger finance team, and not high-volume BPO processing

• Comfortable across a P&L, a balance sheet and a cashflow forecast - not just producing them, but reading them and knowing what a movement actually means

• Genuinely strong with spreadsheets - you build models, not just maintain them. Multi-scenario cashflow, sensitivity, reconciliation across systems.

• Payroll experience, and enough confidence to audit historical payroll records and find errors in them

• Experience working with an external bookkeeper or accountant, and holding them to dates

• Xero or equivalent; Notion or equivalent at builder level; a workflow automation tool (Zapier, Make, n8n) as a genuine user

• ?? ?? ??????? ???? ?? ??? ??? ????. You use it to move faster on analysis, process design and writing, and you edit and pressure-test what comes back. We want people who use AI to raise their output, not to paper over gaps in it.

• 13th month pay and an annual increase, both calculated on basic pay

• HMO health cover from month 7

• 20 days Annual Leave and 10 days Sick/Carer's Leave

• Seven Philippine public holidays awarded as paid days off on top of that leave - Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Labor Day, Independence Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Rizal Day. Any other holiday you take off comes from your annual leave balance.
