Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with strong QuickBooks expertise to oversee day-to-day accounting operations for multiple U.S.-based clients. This role requires someone who can independently manage accounting processes, review staff work, maintain accurate financial records, and identify accounting issues before they become problems.
The ideal candidate is more than a bookkeeper—they are an accountant who understands the "why" behind transactions, can analyze financial data, improve processes, and ensure accurate month-end financial reporting.
This is a long-term leadership opportunity within a growing outsourced finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Oversight:
Manage daily accounting operations for multiple clients.
Review and approve work completed by Staff Accountants.
Ensure accounting transactions are complete, accurate, and properly documented.
Maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
Ensure compliance with established accounting procedures and internal controls.
Month-End Close:
Lead monthly close process.
Review journal entries for accuracy.
Prepare recurring journal entries and accruals.
Review prepaid expenses and amortization schedules.
Record depreciation and fixed asset activity.
Analyze balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
Prepare monthly financial statements.
Review Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow reports.
Perform variance analysis and identify unusual fluctuations.
Investigate discrepancies before financials are issued.
Assist with budget-to-actual reporting.
Accounts Receivable Oversight:
Review customer invoicing for accuracy.
Monitor collections and aging reports.
Ensure deposits, retainers, and customer payments are properly recorded.
Assist with complex billing issues and sponsor invoicing.
Accounts Payable Oversight:
Review vendor invoices prior to payment.
Ensure proper coding and approval workflows.
Review payment batches.
Monitor outstanding liabilities.
Resolve vendor discrepancies.
Reconciliations:
Review monthly bank reconciliations.
Review credit card reconciliations.
Investigate unreconciled differences.
Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly.
Internal Controls & Process Improvement:
Develop and improve accounting procedures.
Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Identify opportunities to automate accounting workflows.
Ensure documentation supports all accounting transactions.
Recommend improvements to strengthen financial controls.
Team Leadership:
Train and mentor Staff Accountants.
Review completed work for accuracy.
Provide guidance on accounting issues.
Assist with onboarding new accounting tea
Communicate effectively with U.S.-based management.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of accounting experience.
2+ years reviewing or supervising accounting staff.
Advanced QuickBooks Online or Desktop experience.
Strong understanding of:
General Ledger

Bank Reconciliations
Credit Card Reconciliations
Financial Statement Preparation
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to work U.S. business hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting U.S.-based companies.
Experience managing accounting for multiple clients.
Experience with sponsor billing or pass-through costs.
Experience in healthcare, construction, or professional services.
CPA or CPA candidate (preferred but not required).
Experience with Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or other ERP systems.
Experience documenting accounting procedures.
