JOB OVERVIEW

About Scriveiner
Scriveiner is an award-winning British luxury brand specialising in writing instruments and premium accessories. Founded in 2019, our products are used by millions of customers worldwide, available via major online marketplaces and from more than 1,000 retail stores around the globe. Our mission is simple: to create beautiful, high-quality products that people love to use every day.

The company has grown rapidly and has been recognised with numerous awards, including the King’s Award for Enterprise, The Sunday Times 100, the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, and multiple international design awards.

Scriveiner is the flagship brand of Infinity Brands, a founder-led business focused on building premium consumer brands with global reach. We are high-growth, entrepreneurial and hands-on, and we are focused on delivering exceptional products and customer experiences.

The Opportunity
Scriveiner is at a pivotal point in its growth expanding into new premium product categories, scaling its Amazon and Shopify channels, and building the operational infrastructure to support a significant step-change over the next three years. As the business grows, so does the need for a finance function that is not just accurate, but sharp.

We are hiring an Accounting Executive to sit at the operational core of the Finance team. This is a role for someone who understands UK accounting deeply, works confidently without a manual, and brings the kind of proactive judgment that means problems get spotted before they become problems. The Finance Manager is looking for someone who improves how the function works not just someone who keeps pace with it.

Day to day, you will own the transactional engine of the business: AP, AR, bank reconciliations, VAT, month-end close, and the accuracy behind every financial report we produce. But the expectation goes further than execution. You will look at how we do things, identify where they can be tighter, and take genuine ownership of the financial integrity of a lean, fast-moving business. The systems you help build now will underpin Scriveiner at twice its current size.

What You Will Own
Own the accuracy and completeness of daily financial transactions, AP, AR, invoicing, and payment runs ensuring every entry is correctly authorised, coded, and filed
Lead bank and supplier reconciliations, resolving discrepancies proactively rather than waiting for month-end to surface them
Take full ownership of VAT preparation and filing support, maintaining compliance with UK regulations
Drive month-end and year-end close activities, moving the process forward with minimal direction
Maintain clean audit trails across all financial records digital and physical so documentation is always ready, not assembled at the last minute
Identify gaps and inefficiencies in current financial processes and bring forward practical improvements you are expected to flag what is not working and suggest what should replace it
Support the preparation of management accounts, P&L summaries, cash flow reports, and balance sheet reconciliations that the Finance Manager and founders can rely on
Liaise with internal teams and external suppliers on financial queries, acting as a reliable point of contact who resolves issues without escalation
Contribute to forecasting and budgeting inputs as the business plans for growth across new product categories and marketplaces
Perform intercompany reconciliations, ensuring transactions between business entities are accurately recorded and resolved in a timely manner
Assist in the preparation of divisional profit and loss accounts, supporting clear visibility of performance across the business
Ensure correct expense allocation across business divisions, maintaining accuracy and consistency in how costs are assigned and reported

Who You Are
Essential — you must have this:
Solid, hands-on UK accounting experience you understand VAT, AP/AR workflows, reconciliations, and month-end close as second nature
Proven proficiency with at least one major accounting platform: Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage
Strong Excel skills: pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and basic data modelling without needing to be shown
A track record of working independently, you manage your own workload, flag risks early, and do not require close supervision to maintain accuracy
A genuine drive to improve how a finance function works, not just maintain it you notice inefficiencies and act on them
High attention to detail with a professional approach to confidentiality and financial data
Experience working within a business with a turnover of £10 million or more

Desirable — it would strengthen your application if you have this:
Familiarity with e-commerce accounting, particularly Amazon Seller Central or Shopify financial flows
Experience working in a small or scaling business where finance is a lean, high-ownership function
Exposure to multi-currency transactions or international marketplace accounting

What Success Looks Like
In this role, you will be successful when:
Financial records are consistently accurate, up to date, and audit-ready without prompting
Bank and supplier reconciliations are completed on time with discrepancies identified and resolved proactively
VAT filings and compliance obligations are met without error or delay
Month-end close is completed efficiently, with reports the Finance Manager and founders can rely on
You bring forward at least one meaningful improvement to financial processes or systems within your first 90 days
The Finance Manager spends less time checking and more time using the information you produce

Please note that candidates with UK accounting experience will be given preference during the selection process.
