We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to work for our team in Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate financial reports, ensuring compliance with Australian taxation and statutory requirements, managing payroll, and overseeing debt collection processes.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of Australian accounting standards and tax regulations, along with excellent organisational and analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
• Prepare management reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements
• Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS)
• Manage and remit statutory obligations including:
o GST
o PAYG Withholding
o PAYG Instalments
o Superannuation Guarantee contributions
o Payroll Tax
o Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT)
• Ensure compliance with ATO and other regulatory requirements
• Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting
• Process and manage end-to-end payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Oversee accounts receivable and lead debt collection activities, including following up overdue accounts
• Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
• Support external auditors and liaise with tax advisors when required
Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
• CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) preferred but not mandatory
• Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a similar accounting role in Australia
• Strong knowledge of Australian taxation laws and compliance requirements
• Experience preparing and lodging BAS
• Proficiency in accounting software , preferably MYOB, although we plan to move to XERO in the future
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities
