Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled Accountant with proven experience in handling accounting and tax compliance for entities in Australia and New Zealand. The role involves managing financial records, compliance reporting, and tax submissions in accordance with AASB (Australian Accounting Standards Board) and NZ IFRS (New Zealand International Financial Reporting Standards).
Key Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day accounting activities in line with AASB and NZ IFRS standards
• Prepare and lodge GST, BAS, PAYG, FBT returns for Australian entities
• File GST returns, PAYE, and income tax documentation for New Zealand entities
• Assist in month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and balance sheet reviews
• Ensure timely preparation of financial statements and statutory reports
• Maintain detailed records to support tax audits and internal controls
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and local consultants in AU/NZ
• Monitor and apply changes in local tax and financial compliance requirements
• Maintain compliance calendars and ensure all filings are completed before deadlines
• Use cloud-based accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) to manage books across multiple jurisdictions
Required Skills
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, including exposure to Australian and/or New Zealand entities
• Knowledge of AASB, NZ IFRS, and relevant tax laws
• CA Inter, CPA, or equivalent qualification (Australia/New Zealand pathway preferred)
• Experience working in remote teams and collaborating with international teams
• Knowledge of cross-border tax compliance and reporting best practices
• Hands-on experience with Xero, MYOB, or other international accounting platforms
• Strong analytical and documentation skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
• Ability to work independently and meet tight international deadlines
