JOB OVERVIEW

Seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to design, build, test, and document a secure Amazon WorkSpaces environment.

This is a project-based engagement.

Project requirements
The environment must:
• Run in an approved U.S.-based AWS region
• Provide secure Amazon WorkSpaces virtual desktops
• Allow access to EHR systems and payer portals
• Prevent client information from being stored on the user’s local computer
• Restrict file transfer, clipboard use, printing, local drives, and removable devices where technically supported
• Use encryption, MFA, role-based permissions, logging, and monitoring
• Support repeatable onboarding and offboarding of future users
• Be fully documented and transferred to AVP after implementation

Responsibilities
• Review business and client security requirements
• Design the AWS and Amazon WorkSpaces architecture
• Configure AWS networking, IAM, Directory Service, security groups, logging, and encryption
• Configure and secure Amazon WorkSpaces
• Build and test one pilot user
• Validate security restrictions and document any technical limitations
• Create a repeatable process for adding staff in the future
• Provide architecture diagrams, administrator instructions, and user onboarding documentation
• Conduct a knowledge-transfer session
• Provide limited post-launch support

Required experience
• Strong hands-on AWS infrastructure experience
• Experience with AWS VPC, IAM, networking, security groups, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch
• Windows systems administration experience
• Virtual desktop infrastructure experience
• Strong troubleshooting and technical documentation skills
• Excellent written and spoken English

Strongly preferred
• Direct Amazon WorkSpaces deployment experience
• AWS Directory Service or Active Directory experience
• AWS Solutions Architect or SysOps certification
• Healthcare, HIPAA, or other regulated-environment experience
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, VMware Horizon, or Windows RDS

Project details
• Remote, Philippines-based contractor
• Estimated 30–50 hours
• Immediate availability preferred
