JOB OVERVIEW

ABOUT THE ROLE

I'm an entrepreneur building and operating several businesses across software, fleet management, and design. I'm looking for a highly resourceful generalist who can work directly with me to turn ideas into finished work.

This is not a traditional virtual assistant role.

I don't primarily need help managing my calendar, inbox, or data entry. I'm looking for someone who is excellent at using AI, research, freelancers, and digital tools to get things done.

I'll often give you an outcome rather than step-by-step instructions. Your job is to figure out the middle and bring me back high-quality work.


WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

Projects will vary from week to week. Examples include:

- Developing initial branding and creative concepts using AI
- Researching companies, competitors, markets, products, and business ideas
- Finding and evaluating freelancers on Fiverr or Upwork
- Writing creative briefs and managing freelancers through completion
- Researching visual references and creating moodboards
- Helping take websites from idea to research to copy to design to launch
- Drafting and refining website copy with AI
- Creating presentations, documents, and business materials
- Sourcing and screening potential contractors
- QA testing websites and digital products
- Organizing information into useful deliverables
- Comparing software, vendors, and tools
- Managing small digital projects from beginning to completion
- Solving unfamiliar problems using AI and online resources

You do not need to personally be an expert designer, developer, copywriter, or researcher.

You need to be good at figuring out how to get things done.

Sometimes you'll do the work yourself.

Sometimes you'll use AI.

Sometimes you'll find and manage a freelancer who can do it better.


EXAMPLE ASSIGNMENT

I might tell you:

"I'm launching a software company called OneZero. I need a simple website and brand identity. It should feel sophisticated, technical, and premium. Research the market, develop some directions, figure out how we should approach the logo, and bring me your recommendation."

I don't want to tell you every individual step.

I'd expect you to research the problem, use AI extensively, explore options, make reasonable decisions, and come back to me when you have something worth reviewing.


AI IS CENTRAL TO THIS ROLE

You should already be a strong user of tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and other AI tools.

I expect you to use AI for:

- Research
- Brainstorming
- Writing
- Analysis
- Planning
- Creative exploration
- Critiquing your own work
- Learning unfamiliar subjects
- Problem solving

However, simply putting my request into ChatGPT and sending me the response provides very little value.

I'm looking for someone who combines:

AI + judgment + resourcefulness + execution.


WHO I'M LOOKING FOR

1. Resourceful

When you don't know how to do something, your instinct is to figure it out.

2. Independent

You are comfortable making small, reversible decisions without asking for permission every time.

3. AI-Native

You know how to get substantially better results from AI than someone using basic prompts.

4. Strong Written English

You communicate clearly, naturally, and concisely.

5. Organized

You can manage several projects without losing track of details.

6. Good Judgment

You can distinguish between strong work and mediocre work, including mediocre AI-generated work.

7. Visually Competent

You don't need to be a professional designer, but you should have good taste and recognize strong branding, websites, presentations, and visual work.

8. Proactive

If you see a better way to accomplish something, I want you to tell me.


HOW WE'LL WORK

The role will start at approximately 10–15 hours per week.

Work will be primarily asynchronous.

You'll receive a queue of projects and tasks rather than waiting for me to give you something new every day.

For most projects, I want you to:

Understand the objective -> figure out the approach -> execute -> bring me the result.

If you encounter a small, reversible decision, make it.

If you encounter an important decision that genuinely requires my judgment, bring me the options and your recommendation.

The goal is for you to gradually take ownership of more projects with less oversight.


COMPENSATION

$5–8 USD/hour to start, depending on experience and demonstrated ability.

There is significant opportunity for additional hours, responsibility, and compensation if the relationship works well.

I'm looking for someone who could potentially work with me for years, not someone interested in completing one short project.

Please don't send me a generic cover letter.

I'm much more interested in seeing how you think, how you use AI, and how you approach problems you've never encountered before.
