AI Developer — Ongoing Part-Time Contractor
About the Role

DOM Consulting Group is a federal and commercial safety consulting firm building out AI-powered internal tools and agent workflows. We're looking for an experienced AI/automation developer to join on an ongoing part-time basis, helping us extend and maintain a growing suite of Airtable-integrated AI agents and explore new AI product opportunities.

This is a long-term collaborative role, not a one-off gig — we want someone who can grow with the work and take ownership of pieces of the system over time.

What You'll Work On
Build and maintain AI agents that read/write to Airtable bases via the Claude API (e.g., automated daily briefs, ranked action reports, data-driven summaries)
Design and improve automation workflows connecting Airtable, video/photo inputs, and document generation (e.g., automated report generation from field data)
Support and extend existing agent infrastructure (multiple live Airtable bases used for safety tracking, compliance, and operations)
Collaborate on new AI-driven product ideas — we're open to your input on architecture and tooling, not just execution
Debug, document, and stabilize existing scripts/integrations (Python/ffmpeg-based workflows, API integrations)
Ideal Skills & Experience
Strong experience with the Anthropic Claude API (or similar LLM APIs) — prompt design, tool use, structured outputs
Airtable API / automations experience (bases, tables, fields, scripting)
Python proficiency; comfort with ffmpeg or media-processing pipelines a plus
Ability to design agent workflows from a business use case, not just implement a spec
Clear, proactive communicator — comfortable working async with a non-technical founder and explaining tradeoffs in plain language
Reliable time tracking and transparent reporting on hours/progress (please note: accurate work logs are important to us)
Engagement Details
Type: Ongoing, part-time contractor (hours flexible based on workload)
Platform: Upwork (milestone or hourly, open to discussing)
Communication: Regular async check-ins; occasional live calls as needed
