JOB OVERVIEW

We are a non-profit organization based in the southwestern US (Arizona & New Mexico) with 50–60 employees ready to deploy on government and utility contracts. We are looking for a highly skilled AI engineer to build us an end-to-end automated bidding and contract acquisition system from scratch.

This is a mission-critical role. You will design, build, and maintain a system that:

CORE SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:
- Automatically searches and monitors ---------- , Arizona state procurement (AZProcure), New Mexico state procurement, and utility vendor portals (SRP, APS, PNM, El Paso Electric, TEP, NTUA) for new opportunities
- Filters and scores opportunities based on our capabilities, workforce size, location, NAICS codes, and set-aside eligibility
- Automatically drafts and formats bid proposals and capability statements using open-source LLMs running on our own server (NOT OpenAI/ChatGPT — we need this to run on infrastructure we own and control)
- Tracks bid deadlines, submission requirements, and follow-up schedules
- Manages the full lifecycle: opportunity discovery ? bid/no-bid decision ? proposal draft ? submission ? award tracking ? follow-up
- Sends alerts and status updates to our team

WHAT YOU MUST KNOW:
- ---------- API and federal procurement data feeds
- State procurement portals and how to scrape/monitor them
- Proposal writing best practices for government contracts
- Python, REST APIs, web scraping (Playwright/Selenium/BeautifulSoup)
- Deploying and running open-source large language models locally (Ollama, vLLM, llama.cpp, or similar — you must have hands-on experience with self-hosted LLMs)
- RAG (Retrieval Augmented Generation) for document processing and proposal generation
- Building automation pipelines and dashboards
- n8n, ---------- , or similar orchestration tools are a plus but not a substitute for real AI engineering skills

IDEAL BACKGROUND:
- Experience with government contracting or procurement automation
- Has built proposal generation or RFP response systems
- Familiar with set-aside programs (8(a), HUBZone, non-profit contracting)
- Can work independently and deliver a working MVP within 30–60 days

SCHEDULE: Part-time to start, growing to full-time as the system is built. Must be available during US Mountain Time (MST) business hours for coordination.

WHAT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR APPLICATION:
1. Have you built any government contracting, bidding, or proposal automation systems? Describe what you built.
2. Have you deployed open-source LLMs on a private server? Which models and tools did you use?
3. Are you familiar with ---------- 's API or similar procurement data feeds?
4. What is your proposed approach to building this system?
5. Your desired hourly rate and availability.
