3D Modeller (SketchUp Specialist) – Full-Time | Remote | AU$1,200/month
Salary: AUD $1,200
Location: Philippines
Type: Full-time (Mon – Fri, Western Australian business hours, UTC +8)
Reporting to: Head of 3D Design
Collaborates with: 3D Modellers, Rendering Team, Project Managers
Role Overview
3D Walkabout is seeking a dedicated 3D Modeller specialising in SketchUp to join our architectural visualisation team.
This is a production-focused role responsible purely for creating accurate, well-structured 3D models from architectural plans, drawings, and reference material. You will not be responsible for rendering, lighting, materials, or post-production — your focus is modelling.
You’ll translate 2D documentation into clean, detailed 3D geometry that forms the foundation for our rendering team to produce high-end architectural visuals for residential and commercial projects across Australia.
This role suits someone methodical, precise, and efficient — who understands architectural drawings and can model accurately at scale.
Tools & Software
Essential
- SketchUp (primary modelling tool)
- Strong understanding of architectural drawings (plans, elevations, sections)
- Ability to interpret site plans, DA drawings, and construction documentation
Preferred
- Experience modelling from AutoCAD (.dwg) files
- Experience organising models for export to 3ds Max
- Knowledge of clean geometry practices for rendering pipelines
- Shared network drives / NAS systems for team production
- Basic understanding of real-time or rendering workflows (to optimise modelling output)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Architectural 3D Modelling
- Build accurate 3D models from architectural plans, elevations, sections, and site drawings.
- Model residential interiors and exteriors, commercial buildings, and development sites.
- Produce well-structured models suitable for rendering and visualisation.
- Accurately scale and position all architectural elements including walls, windows, doors, roofs, floors, stairs, and site features.
- Model Structure & Organisation
- Maintain clean geometry with correct grouping and component structure.
- Follow studio naming conventions and layer/tag standards.
- Keep models efficient and optimised for export into rendering software.
- Ensure files are clearly organised for seamless handover to the rendering team.
Team Workflow
- Work closely with renderers and project managers to meet deadlines.
- Respond to revision requests efficiently and accurately.
- Collaborate with other modellers when working on large-scale projects.
- Maintain clear communication regarding drawing discrepancies or missing information.
About You
- Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in architectural 3D modelling.
- Expert in SketchUp with strong technical modelling ability.
- Excellent understanding of architectural documentation and construction drawings.
- Highly organised and detail-oriented.
- Able to model efficiently while maintaining precision.
- Comfortable working to deadlines in a structured production environment.
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude.
- This is not a rendering role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys modelling and wants to specialise in it.
What You’ll Get
- Clear, focused role within a structured production pipeline.
- Consistent workflow of architectural projects across Australia.
- Collaboration with experienced renderers and project managers.
- Opportunity to grow within one of Australia’s leading immersive tech studios.
