Paper Trail is a new narrated documentary channel covering financial fraud and corporate scandal (Ponzi schemes, accounting fraud, cover-ups, market manipulation), in the Hoog / Fern / Jake Tran mold.
Role summary: Owns the channel's 3D pipeline — modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering every video's animated visuals — and builds out Paper Trail's reusable 3D asset library.
What you'll do:
- Model, texture, light, and render every 3D scene/animation a video's shot list calls for.
- Build and maintain a reusable asset library — recurring environments and props the channel needs across most stories (boardroom, courtroom, generic office, city/airport-style exteriors, data-viz set pieces) — so future videos aren't built from zero.
- Work inside the channel's visual system.
- Hand off full source project files plus every linked asset, and revise through review rounds based on feedback.
What we're looking for:
- Mid-to-senior 3D generalist, comfortable across modeling, texturing/lighting, and rendering, not just one stage of the pipeline.
- Portfolio should show restrained, stylized work (clean minimalist scenes, deliberate palette control) rather than maximalist — that's the register this channel runs in.
- Precision executing someone else's brief matters more here than freeform concepting, since the whole channel's visual identity depends on consistency across videos.
- Bonus: experience building modular, reusable 3D asset libraries for ongoing production, not just one-off hero shots.
Software knowledge we're looking for:
- Blender
- Cinema 4D
- Frame.io
- Notion
- Bonus: Adobe Premiere Pro
- Bonus: Adobe After Effects
