AJG Transport is expanding its asset operations division and seeking an experienced, dependable, and results-driven After Hours Dispatch Lead (Asset Operations) to oversee our overnight trucking operations.
We are looking for a hands-on operations leader who can manage fleet movements, coordinate driver dispatches, resolve operational issues, and lead a remote fleet management team (FMT). This role requires strong US trucking experience, sound operational judgment, and the ability to take full ownership of night operations in a fast-paced environment.
Role Overview
You will serve as the primary operational lead during the night shift, overseeing active trucks, drivers, trailers, and a team of approximately 5–8 remote associates. Your responsibility is to ensure every load is properly assigned, dispatched, tracked, and completed while proactively resolving breakdowns, delays, equipment issues, and service risks.
This is a hands-on leadership role, not solely a coordination or administrative position. You will be expected to make timely operational decisions, hold your team accountable, and ensure a smooth transition to the day shift.
What You’ll Be Doing
• Oversee night asset operations, monitoring truck movements, driver availability, trailer assignments, and scheduled pickups and deliveries.
• Lead and support a remote team of 5–8 associates, managing workload distribution, shift coverage, performance, and accountability.
• Coordinate driver dispatches, verify equipment assignments, conduct structured check calls, and ensure drivers receive clear instructions before scheduled movements.
• Monitor real-time fleet activity using GPS tracking systems and other operational platforms while maintaining accurate dispatch records.
• Investigate and resolve overnight operational issues, including breakdowns, roadside emergencies, route delays, equipment shortages, and missed appointments.
• Coordinate with maintenance, brokerage, and load planning teams to recover loads, arrange equipment solutions, and minimize service disruptions.
• Conduct scheduled tracking audits, maintain accurate operational reports, escalate critical risks, and prepare detailed shift handoffs.
• Identify recurring operational issues, recommend process improvements, and reinforce established SOPs across the team.
What Success Looks Like
• Maintain full visibility and operational control over active trucks, drivers, and trailers throughout the night shift.
• Ensure loads are dispatched on time, with minimal delays, missed appointments, or preventable service failures.
• Resolve operational problems proactively instead of allowing unresolved issues to carry over to the next shift.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date information across tracking systems, dispatch records, and performance reports.
• Build a reliable and accountable night team that consistently meets operational expectations.
• Deliver clear, organized shift handoffs with documented issues, actions taken, and outstanding priorities.
Who We’re Looking For
• At least 3 years of direct US trucking operations experience in dispatch, fleet management, load coordination, carrier operations, or similar roles.
• At least 1 year of team leadership or supervisory experience, including workload management, performance coaching, and accountability.
• Hands-on experience using GPS and fleet visibility platforms or comparable systems.
• Strong understanding of US trucking operations, driver dispatch, Hours of Service (HOS), equipment coordination, and time-sensitive freight movements.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to provide structured, concise, and actionable operational updates.
• Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and the ability to make independent decisions under pressure.
• Highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple operational priorities simultaneously.
• Team-oriented, coachable, and dependable, with a strong ownership mindset and willingness to hold themselves and others accountable.
• Must have a reliable backup internet connection and backup power source to maintain operational continuity.
• Experience with government freight operations, fleet repair system, TMS, fuel card system, or freight recovery is an advantage. Spanish proficiency is a plus for Mexico-based applicants.

• Performance recognition with growth potential for strong contributors.
Schedule & Work Setup
• Direct hire and full-time position with a US-based trucking company and permanent work-from-home setup.
• Shift: Approximately 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM US Central Time, with flexibility to extend as operationally required.
• Workdays: Includes weekends; this is not a standard Monday–Friday schedule. To be finalized during hiring
• Active participation in Zoom for remote operational communication and collaboration is required throughout the shift.
• Time-tracking software is used for accountability and performance monitoring.
• Reliable primary internet, backup internet, and backup power are mandatory.
