JOB OVERVIEW

I’m looking for a strong, independent writer to create engaging YouTube scripts about strange sightings, unexplained events, and unusual encounters.

For examples of the writing quality I’m looking for—simple language, conversational delivery, and storytelling that’s extremely easy to follow—see:

• Carolina Case Files: ----------
• Lighthouse Mysteries: ----------
• MrBallen: ----------

PAY & DETAILS

• $100 USD per script, including research.
• 3,000–3,600 words per script.
• Freelance position with potential for ongoing work.
• Topics and writing guidelines will be provided.

INDEPENDENT WORK

You must be able to handle the entire script yourself: research, fact-checking, structure, writing, and proofreading.

Scripts must be complete and ready to narrate when submitted. I should not need to rewrite sentences, simplify the language, correct factual errors, or restructure the story.

The purpose of this position is to take scriptwriting off my plate. If I have to revise your work, this arrangement does not make sense for me. You need to understand the guidelines and consistently deliver finished scripts independently.

TOPICS

Strange sightings, unexplained events, and unusual encounters. No true crime. Choose stories with safe outcomes for everyone involved.

THE WRITING

Scripts must be extremely easy to follow, engaging, and natural when read aloud. Think of someone telling you a fascinating story in everyday language.

Absolutely no flowery language. None. No poetic descriptions, elaborate metaphors, or sentences dressed up to sound impressive.

For example:

• Don’t write: “An eerie silence draped itself over the sleepy town.”
Write: “The town was quiet.”

• Don’t write: “The moon cast its silver veil across the lonely stretch of asphalt.”
Write: “The moon lit the road.”

• Don’t write: “An icy wave of terror gripped him as he gazed upon the mysterious figure.”
Write: “He was frightened when he saw the figure.”

The writing must not sound AI-generated at all. No robotic phrasing, generic suspense lines, awkward transitions, or repeated points.

I’m looking for a strong opening, a clear sequence of events, and interesting details that keep people listening. Let the events make the story interesting.

Research each topic carefully, provide source links, and distinguish documented facts from witness accounts or speculation. Do not invent details or dialogue. Include pronunciation guides in parentheses for unfamiliar names and places.

TO APPLY

Use Ghost as the subject line of your application and include:

1. Why you would be a good fit, including any relevant writing experience.
2. At least one existing writing sample. Multiple samples are preferred.
3. Links to published videos using your writing, if available, and your role in creating them.
4. Your usual turnaround time for a 3,000–3,600-word script.

I’m hoping to find a reliable writer for a long-term working relationship.
