Good Feedback Builds Better Speakers.
Position Summary
Elorae supports education programs in Korea, including Leaders Academy, where students develop their public speaking, debate, writing, and critical thinking. We are looking for a Speech & Debate Teaching Assistant to help our coaches assess student work and produce strong curriculum.
You will help identify what a student is doing well, what needs to improve, and what materials will help them get there. Strong performance can lead to coaching responsibilities over time.
Experienced applicants may join as a VA. Applicants with limited professional experience may join as paid interns. Competitive, club, school, and university experience can count: show us what you have actually done.
What This Role Involves
Review student speeches, debate performances, recordings, and written work using our assessment criteria and coach guidance.
Prepare clear, specific feedback on argument, organization, evidence, language, delivery, and engagement with other speakers.
Record assessment results, organize feedback, and help track student progress.
Research topics and develop lesson plans, exercises, model examples, debate briefs, assessment materials, and teacher guides.
Adapt materials to different ages, English levels, and stages of competition preparation.
Revise curriculum and feedback in response to coach review; check facts, sources, and event requirements.
Support practice activities and, as your ability develops, take on supervised teaching and coaching.
Who This Is For
Experience with public speaking, competitive debate, or Model United Nations (MUN) events is preferred. Competitors, judges, coaches, club officers, organizers, and people who have supported these events are all welcome to apply.
Teaching, tutoring, curriculum writing, assessment, English, education, or communications experience is useful. Excellent spoken and written English, sound judgment, and the ability to explain an improvement clearly matter more than a long list of titles.
You should be comfortable receiving direct feedback and revising your work. An inexperienced applicant with relevant event experience, strong English, and good judgment may be a better fit than an experienced general VA with no interest in the subject.
A Path to Coaching
This role starts with assessments and curriculum support. Applicants who demonstrate subject knowledge, reliable assessment judgment, and the ability to work effectively with students may progress into coaching. Advancement depends on performance and program needs.
A Word About Your Setup
You need your own laptop or desktop, a functioning webcam and microphone, stable internet of at least 30 Mbps download with acceptable latency, and a quiet workspace suitable for focused work and video calls. Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive should be familiar territory. Some overlap with Korea Standard Time is required; tell us your availability for live sessions, including evenings or weekends.
Hours and Payment
Part-time, with the initial hours agreed according to your availability and the work assigned. Hours and responsibilities may expand based on performance and program needs.
Experienced VA: paid probation begins at 5,000 KRW per hour.
Paid intern: 100 PHP per hour from day one. Applicants with limited professional experience are welcome; relevant school, university, club, or competition work can support your application.

“Good job, be more confident” is not a useful assessment. We need someone who can identify a specific problem and explain a practical next step. If you use AI, you remain responsible for the accuracy, quality, and teaching value of the result.
