## About the Role
I am looking for an experienced business strategist who can help me understand what is holding my businesses back, identify problems I may not see myself, and make smarter decisions about how to allocate my time, money, and resources.
I am involved in multiple business activities and projects, work with virtual assistants, and handle many responsibilities myself. I know how to perform many of these tasks, but I need an experienced, analytical person who can look at the bigger picture and help me determine what makes the most sense for my current stage of business.
**My biggest priority is finding someone who can accurately diagnose problems, identify opportunities, and recommend the right solutions—not simply give generic business advice.**
I want someone who understands that running a business is about making the best decisions with the resources available, not automatically hiring more people, spending more money, or pursuing every opportunity.
## Key Responsibilities
### 1. Business Diagnosis
- Analyze my current business activities, workload, staffing, and processes.
- Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, wasted time, unnecessary expenses, and poor allocation of resources.
- Determine the underlying causes of problems rather than just addressing symptoms.
- Identify issues or opportunities I may have overlooked.
- Help me understand why certain activities are not producing the results I expect and what should change.
### 2. Smart Budgeting and Resource Allocation
- Help me determine where my money, time, and resources should be invested.
- Evaluate whether a task should be handled by me, delegated to an existing VA, assigned to a more experienced person, or discontinued.
- Determine when paying more for a capable person is worthwhile and when a lower-cost solution makes more sense.
- Recommend which projects deserve investment, which should be postponed, and which are not worth pursuing.
- Help me establish a practical budgeting and expense-tracking system, even though I do not yet have complete financial records.
- Help me make sound decisions when information is incomplete and resources are limited.
### 3. Pricing, Profitability, and Revenue Growth
- Help me determine when to raise my prices and how much to charge for my products or services.
- Evaluate whether my current pricing adequately accounts for costs, time, effort, and the value delivered to customers.
- Identify opportunities to increase profit without necessarily increasing workload or expenses.
- Help me understand which services, products, customers, and business activities are most worthwhile.
- Recommend when to change an offer, introduce a new service, discontinue an unprofitable activity, or focus more heavily on something that is working.
- Help me think through pricing changes, customer retention, profit margins, and sustainable revenue growth.
### 4. Business Planning and Structure
- Help organize my businesses, projects, priorities, and responsibilities.
- Recommend how work should be distributed and where clearer processes or accountability are needed.
- Identify unnecessary roles, overlapping responsibilities, or tasks that consume too much of my time.
- Develop a realistic plan based on my current resources, with clear priorities and actionable next steps.
- Help me distinguish between problems that require immediate attention and issues that can wait.
### 5. Sustainable Growth
- Help me build a stronger business foundation before expanding.
- Explain how staffing, spending, pricing, and priorities should change as revenue and workload increase.
- Help me evaluate opportunities objectively rather than making decisions based on assumptions or excitement alone.
- Develop strategies appropriate for my current stage, with a clear understanding of what should change as the businesses grow.
## Examples of Questions I Need Help Answering
These are examples of the types of questions and decisions I may bring to consultations. They are not an exhaustive list.
**Staffing and delegation**
- Should I spend money on another VA, improve an existing employee's responsibilities, or eliminate the role?
- Am I doing tasks myself that someone else should handle?
- Is it worth paying more for a more experienced person if doing so saves time or produces better results?
- How should I divide responsibilities so that I am not constantly supervising or correcting work?
**Budgeting and spending**
- Which business activity deserves my next dollar, and which should receive nothing for now?
- Is a task or project worth pursuing given the time and money it consumes?
- How should I allocate money when I do not yet have complete financial records?
- Should I invest in a new opportunity or strengthen an existing business first?
- Where might I be spending money without receiving enough value in return?
**Pricing and profitability**
- When should I raise my prices, and how should I determine the right increase?
- Am I charging enough for the value I provide?
- How can I increase profitability without simply working more hours?
- Should I change my pricing model, minimum order, packages, or service offerings?
- Which services or customers are worth prioritizing, and which consume too many resources for too little return?
**Planning and growth**
- What should I prioritize over the next 30, 60, or 90 days?
- How can I create a budget that adapts as my revenue, workload, and opportunities change?
- Should I expand a particular activity now or wait until the business is more stable?
- What systems should I establish first so growth does not create more chaos?
- How should my strategy change as the business earns more and can afford additional resources?
I need someone who can analyze each situation, explain the reasoning behind their recommendation, identify the trade-offs, and help me d
## Who I Am Looking For
The ideal candidate has substantial experience advising or operating small businesses, preferably founder-led, bootstrapped, or service-based businesses.
You should have strong business judgment, analytical thinking, and the ability to make practical recommendations based on incomplete information.
I am particularly interested in someone who:
- Understands business strategy, operational efficiency, budgeting, cost-benefit analysis, pricing, profitability, and resource allocation.
- Has experience identifying the root causes of business problems and recommending measurable improvements.
- Understands virtual assistants, outsourcing, staffing, and the economics of hiring.
- Can evaluate whether an expense is justified by the value it creates.
- Understands the challenges of running a business without unlimited capital.
- Can challenge my assumptions and explain when a different approach makes more sense.
- Can distinguish between what needs to be fixed immediately, what can wait, and what is not worth pursuing.
- Can teach me how to think through business decisions, not just tell me what to do.
Experience in recruitment, marketing agencies, virtual assistant businesses, or other service-based businesses is a plus.
I am not looking for someone who simply agrees with me or provides motivational coaching. I want independent thinking, sound judgment, and practical business advice.
## Engagement Structure
This is not a full-time position and does not require a monthly retainer.
I want to work with the consultant on an as-needed basis.
**Initial engagement:** A paid business assessment focused on diagnosing the main problems, evaluating my current structure, and developing a prioritized action plan.
**Ongoing engagement:** Individual paid consultations whenever I need advice on a business decision, staffing issue, budget allocation, pricing question, new opportunity, or operational problem.
As the businesses grow and become busier, I may need consultations more frequently.
We will begin with a **free 15-minute introductory call** to assess mutual fit. Paid work will begin only after we agree on the scope and price.
## Compensation
I am willing to pay for genuine expertise and valuable results. I am not necessarily looking for the cheapest candidate.
Please state your rates clearly:
- Hourly consultation rate.
- Price for a standard 60-minute session.
- Estimated fixed fee for the initial diagnostic assessment and action plan.
- Any minimum booking requirements.
The initial assessment should have a clearly defined scope, deliverables, and total price agreed upon in advance.
## How to Apply
Please apply through the OnlineJobs.ph application portal and answer these questions:
1. **Relevant experience:** Describe your experience advising or operating small businesses. What types of businesses have you worked with?
2. **Business diagnosis:** Give one specific example of a problem you identified that the business owner had not recognized. How did you discover the underlying issue, what did you recommend, and what was the outcome?
3. **Budgeting and resource allocation:** Describe a situation where you helped a business d
4. **Pricing and profitability:** Describe a situation where you helped a business improve its pricing, margins, or profitability. What did you analyze, and what changed as a result?
5. **Working with incomplete information:** How would you begin diagnosing a business when the owner does not yet have complete financial records or a formal budgeting system?
6. **Rates and availability:** Provide your hourly rate, 60-minute session price, estimated fee for the initial diagnostic assessment, and availability for a free 15-minute introductory call. Confirm that you are comfortable working on a one-off, on-demand basis without a required monthly retainer.
Please keep your answers specific and concise. Concrete examples and demonstrated results are more important than general claims about your abilities.
Thank you. I look forward to reviewing your application.
