About Us
We are a small Australian performance marketing consultancy. We run Google and Meta ads for businesses in Australia, Europe and the US. Our founder worked at Google and Meta before starting the company. We all work remotely.
About The Role
We are looking for a short-form video editor who also designs clean static graphics, and who knows how each platform works. Someone with a sharp eye for detail.
We film the raw footage and write a short brief. You turn it into finished videos and graphics in the style we already use, for three kinds of work:
* Our own channels: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts,
* Ads for our own products, starting with our two playbooks.
* From month three, the same work for our clients, in each client’s brand.
* We d
* This is project-based work, paid per finished piece from one rate card that covers all three. No hourly rate and no hours to log. To start: roughly 4 to 5 videos, 2 carousels and 2 blog covers a week for our channels, sent as one weekly batch, plus a batch of ads whenever we refresh the playbook campaigns.
What You Would Do
* Edit talking-head and B-roll footage into 15 to 60 second vertical videos (9:16, 1080 x 1920).
* Design static posts, carousels and ad graphics from our templates and brand guide (Canva or Figma), in every size we need.
* Cut ads from our footage: 15 to 30 seconds, several hooks on the same body, in 9:16, 4:5 and 1:1. Every figure in an ad must match the source exactly, never rounded.
* Follow our house style exactly: one brand typeface, clean captions, numbers on screen, no emoji or stickers.
* Pick the best takes, cut the pauses, and keep the pacing tight without making it feel rushed.
* Check every number, name and word against the script or brief.
* Blur anything confidential that appears on a screen or in notes.
* Brand check everything before it goes out: typeface, capitals on terms like ROAS, safe zones, and no TikTok under 7 seconds.
* Deliver the weekly batch within 3 working days of receiving the footage and briefs, to our shared Drive folder, with the project files. Revisions within 24 hours.
Know The Platforms
The same video does not work the same way on five channels. We never post a TikTok under 7 seconds. Captions carry every video, because many people watch with the sound off. Nothing important sits where Instagram’s buttons cover it. We want someone who knows rules like these without being told, and spots new ones before we do.
* Keep a one-page platform sheet: length, hook timing, safe zones, text and caption style for each of the five channels. Keep it current.
* Apply it to every export.
* If a brief will not work on a platform, tell us before you edit, and suggest the fix.
* With each weekly batch: five trends or formats that fit our style, with links. Part of the per-piece rate, not extra.
That judgement is yours to use. What to make stays with us.
How We Work
* We are warm with each other and with our clients. People first, then the task.
* We read the person, not just the message.
* We want you to disagree with us, including with the founder, when you think we are wrong. Say it kindly and say it early.
* We check before we claim. If you are not sure something is right, say so.
One Firm Rule
No AI-generated images, AI voices or AI avatars, ever. Our brand is built on real footage and real design. Standard editing tools (auto-captions, noise removal, colour correction) are fine.
What You Get From Us
Raw footage, a short brief per piece (hook, key points, figures, call to action), our brand guide, templates and examples of finished work. Every piece has its own card in Trello/Google doc with the brief already filled in. You never start without one, and you never have to guess.
What We Are Looking For
* A portfolio of short-form talking-head or founder-led videos, and static social or ad designs.
* Clean, restrained work. Premium, not flashy.
* Obsessive attention to detail. A wrong figure or a typo is the kind of thing we notice, and so should you.
* Reliable turnaround and clear written English.
A bonus, not required: experience with ad creative for Meta or TikTok.
Room To Grow
We want someone for the long term, and the work grows with us.
* Month one: our own channels and our playbook ads.
* From month three, if quality and deadlines hold: client work, in each client’s brand, under our name. More pieces, same rate card.
After that: running our production board and quality checks.
Your rates are reviewed at each step. What you will not own is strategy: we or the client d
Hours
We work Melbourne time. Your day should overlap with ours for a few hours so we can turn feedback around quickly. No night shifts.
How We Hire
A short paid test, US$15: one 30-second video from our raw footage, exported for TikTok and for LinkedIn with two lines on what you changed and why, and one static post from our template. The strongest two or three then get a second paid test, US$40: one 20-second ad for our playbook with two different hooks, in 9:16 and 4:5, and a 3-slide carousel. We pay for all of it either way, and we will tell you how you did.
Your first month is a trial for both of us. Before you start, you sign a short contractor agreement covering confidentiality, that the work you make for us is ours, and that client work is done under our name, from a Dadek
How To Apply
Please start your message with the word “margin”, so we know you have read this.
Then answer four questions:
1. Send links to two or three short-form videos and two or three static designs you made, and tell us which tools you use. Founder or talking-head videos if you have them.
2. What is your rate in US dollars for each of these: one finished 30 to 60 second video from raw footage, one ad version cut from a finished video (new hook or new size), one 5-slide carousel, and one single static post?
3. We post the same video to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts,
4. Have you ever caught a mistake before it went out? What happened?
Keep it short. Good work and honest answers tell us more than a long application.
