Long-Form YouTube Editor for Finance Education Channel (Documentary Style)
Type of employment:
Part Time
Job description:
About the channel
I run The Capital Vault, a US-based capital advisory that helps established business owners ($2M-$20M revenue) secure growth capital for buyouts, acquisitions, expansions, and debt restructures. I’m building a YouTube channel that explains how business financing actually works: why banks say no, how lenders read a P&L, how a $2M deal actually gets structured, and the parts of the money system nobody explains to business owners.
The audience is business owners, operators, and people who want to understand capital. The tone is an insider pulling back the curtain. Not hype, not “get rich,” not finance-bro content. Think of it as the finance channel that respects the viewer’s intelligence.
I’m looking for a long-form editor who can turn my raw talking-head recordings into polished, high-retention videos that match a specific visual style.
The video style (this is the important part)
Every video follows the same visual language. Before you apply, make sure this is a style you can execute and enjoy:
Documentary feel, not vlog feel. Think clean, cinematic, deliberate. Reference the pacing and polish of channels like Johnny Harris, Ali Abdaal’s long-form explainers, and the Hormozi-style business breakdowns. Confident cuts, no jump-cut chaos.
High contrast, dark and clean. Deep navy and black backgrounds, gold accents for emphasis. Minimal color palette. Everything looks expensive and intentional.
Numbers on screen, always. This is a finance channel, so every key figure ($2M deal, 60 days, 27-point approval gap) appears as bold on-screen text the moment I say it. Big, clean, sans-serif, animated in with subtle motion.
Charts and explainers that teach. When I explain a concept (DSCR, a capital stack, why a bank declined a file), you build a simple animated graphic that makes it click: bars rising, a flow diagram, a before-and-after comparison. Simple beats fancy. The graphic exists to make the idea land, not to show off.
Captions on everything. Clean, readable, styled to match the brand. Key phrases highlighted.
B-roll that’s relevant and original. Screen recordings, documents, my own footage, custom graphics. No generic stock footage of handshakes and skylines. If a visual doesn’t add meaning, it doesn’t go in.
Hooks that hold. The first 30 seconds are tight and visual: the claim, the number, the question, on screen fast. You understand retention curves and cut for them.
No gimmicks. No zoom-in-every-3-seconds, no meme sound effects, no over-edited energy. Calm authority. The edit should feel like the viewer is being let in on something.
If you can watch a 15-minute Johnny Harris or a Hormozi breakdown and explain why the edit holds attention, you’ll understand what I’m after.
What you’ll do
Edit 1-2 long-form videos per week (8-20 minutes final length) from raw talking-head footage I record, plus a script for each
Cut filler, tighten pacing, and structure the video so retention holds from the hook to the close
Build the on-screen text, number callouts, captions, and simple animated charts and explainers that illustrate financial concepts
Build clean intros, chapter cards, transitions, and end screens in the brand style
Source or create relevant B-roll (screen recordings, documents, graphics), never generic stock
Deliver a first cut within 48-72 hours, revisions within 24
Study my past videos and the reference channels I share, match the style, then improve on it over time
Flag anything in the footage that could be stronger (a better order, a cut that would hold attention better). I want an editor with opinions.
What I’m looking for
2+ years editing long-form YouTube content, with a portfolio of 8-20 minute videos you’ve personally cut
Strong storytelling and pacing instincts: you know how to hold attention for 15 minutes, not just 15 seconds
Clean motion graphics and text animation (simple, professional, consistent)
Comfortable turning numbers I give you into simple charts and visual explainers
Proficient in Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (After Effects a plus)
Reliable, communicative, and able to work independently from a brief
Comfortable with finance and business content (no finance background required, but you take the material seriously and ask when you don’t understand a concept)
Bonus: thumbnail design, short-form clipping from long-form (Opus Clip, Vizard), or experience with educational/explainer channels
How we’ll work
Paid trial: you’ll edit one long-form video from footage and a script I provide, so we can both see if the fit is right
Clear brief and script for every video, feedback in writing, workflow in Slack
Payment every two weeks via bank transfer
Original B-roll and graphics only. No generic stock footage.
Consistent weekly volume. This is a steady role, not one-off gigs.
To apply, include
Links to 3-5 long-form YouTube videos you edited (8+ minutes). Educational, finance, business, or documentary-style content preferred.
One sentence on why the edit in your best sample holds attention
Your editing software
Your availability per week and your rate
Start your application with the words “CAPITAL VAULT” so I know you read the full post.
I’m looking for someone to grow with. If the trial goes well, this becomes a steady long-term role, with the option to expand into short-form clipping, thumbnails, and a larger content operation as the channel grows.
