JOB OVERVIEW

Video Editor — YouTube, Personal Brand & Client Content
I’m looking for a reliable freelance video editor to support my YouTube channel, personal-brand content and creative studio.

I create fitness, lifestyle, entrepreneurship and behind-the-scenes content around working full-time, training, building businesses and documenting the process. I also run a creative studio producing persona-led UGC ads for consumer brands.

This is an ongoing freelance, project-based gig, not a salaried employment position. I may hire one editor for the full range of work, or hire up to two editors and allocate projects based on experience, availability and specialism.

Starting monthly workload
Across the role, the starting volume is approximately:

4 YouTube videos per month, usually 5–15 minutes each

20 short-form cuts from the YouTube videos

Around 10 short-form studio client ad edits per month

Around 40 fresh reels per month, edited from new footage for my personal brand and clients

The workload can vary each month. Studio client work comes first because it has external deadlines.

You do not need to cover every category. I may hire one editor for all work, or split the work as follows:

One editor focused on YouTube long-form and cuts

One editor focused on reels and studio client ads

The editing style needs to stay consistent across the work.

Project rates
YouTube long-form, 5–15 minutes: $12 USD per video

Reel/short, 20–60 seconds: $3 USD per video

Studio client ad, 20–60 seconds: $3–5 USD per video, depending on complexity and polish required

Rates are paid per completed deliverable. More complex client ads will have scope, revision limits and final rate agreed before work begins.

The $275/month figure shown in the job form is the estimated combined initial project budget across the workload. I may hire one editor for the full workload or split it between two editors. It is not a guaranteed salary, minimum wage or fixed monthly commitment to any individual editor.

Payment is made in USD per completed deliverable via an agreed payment method, using a weekly invoice or completed-project summary.

What I’m looking for
Strong pacing, editing instincts and visual storytelling

Experience with YouTube, fitness, lifestyle, personal-brand, UGC or ad content

Ability to turn raw footage into engaging short-form edits

Good captions, music choices, sound design and basic graphics

Strong hooks in the first few seconds, without making content feel over-produced

Reliable written English and ability to meet agreed deadlines

CapCut, Premiere Pro or equivalent software

Your own computer, internet and editing software

Editing style
For personal-brand content, I prefer natural, personality-led edits with tight pacing, readable captions, purposeful B-roll and clean graphics. Avoid excessive effects, stock footage and overly flashy transitions.

Studio client ads will vary by brand brief and may require quicker pacing, stronger hooks, more visual variation, captions and a more polished ad-style approach.

Freelance arrangement
Paid per completed project, not hourly

Flexible hours; you choose when and how to work

No guaranteed minimum hours or monthly earnings

You can work with other clients

You provide your own equipment and software

You are responsible for your own taxes and local statutory obligations

How to apply
Start your application with EDITOR and include:

Links to 2–3 relevant editing examples

Long-form and short-form examples, if available

The editing software you use

Whether you prefer long-form, reels, studio ads or a combination

Your usual turnaround time

Confirmation that you are comfortable with the project rates

Your availability over the next month

Shortlisted candidates will receive a small editing test. You will be asked to create a 2–3 minute horizontal edit from pre-cleaned footage, with optional vertical cuts to demonstrate your short-form approach.
