We are a fast-growing UK e-commerce business specialising in home and commercial gym equipment, including dumbbells, benches, racks, gym machines, cardio equipment, weights, flooring and more.
We are looking for an experienced PPC Expert / Paid Advertising Specialist to take ownership of the day-to-day management, optimisation and performance of our paid advertising across Google Ads, Microsoft/Bing Ads, Amazon Ads and ChatGPT Ads.
Our ambition is simple:
We want our paid advertising to be first-class.
We already have a Marketing Manager who is responsible for the overall marketing strategy, commercial priorities and major decisions. Your role will be to be the paid advertising specialist who turns that strategy into excellent execution, continuously improves performance and identifies opportunities for profitable growth across our advertising channels.
This is not a role for someone who simply checks campaigns and produces reports. We want someone who understands paid advertising deeply, is highly analytical, commercially minded, proactive and constantly looking for ways to improve performance.
The Role
You will be responsible for the ongoing management, optimisation, analysis and reporting of GymSets' paid advertising activity.
Our current paid advertising channels include:
• Google Ads
• Microsoft/Bing Ads
• Amazon Ads
• ChatGPT Ads
As new paid search, shopping, marketplace or AI advertising opportunities become commercially viable, additional PPC and paid advertising channels may be introduced.
Identifying, evaluating, testing and potentially managing these channels will also form part of the role.
You will work closely with our Marketing Manager to ensure all paid advertising activity is aligned with our overall commercial and marketing strategy.
Your role will be to make sure we are:
• Showing up for the right searches and audiences
• Getting maximum visibility from our advertising budgets
• Driving high-quality, profitable traffic
• Improving conversion rates
• Reducing wasted advertising spend
• Increasing profitable sales
• Identifying new opportunities for growth
• Continuously testing and improving campaigns
• Providing clear, useful reporting and insight
• Making the most of emerging paid advertising opportunities
We want you to be hands-on. If you see something that needs fixing, improving, testing or investigating, we expect you to take ownership and get it done rather than simply report the problem.
Key Responsibilities
Google Ads
• Manage and optimise Google Ads campaigns on an ongoing basis
• Manage and optimise Search campaigns
• Manage Google Shopping and Performance Max campaigns
• Conduct keyword research and expansion
• Analyse search queries and search terms

Responsibilities will include:

• Match type and targeting optimisation
• Bid management

• Identifying profitable products and opportunities to scale
• Identifying and reducing inefficient Amazon ad spend
• Analysing organic versus paid performance where appropriate
• Competitor and marketplace research
• Making recommendations around Amazon advertising opportunities
We are looking for someone who understands that Amazon PPC has different commercial dynamics from Google PPC and can manage the channel accordingly.
ChatGPT Ads / AI Advertising
GymSets is also currently investing in ChatGPT advertising, making this an important and particularly interesting part of the role.
You will be expected to:
• Monitor and optimise our existing ChatGPT advertising activity
• Analyse performance and identify opportunities for improvement
• Understand how users interact with AI-driven search and discovery
• Test and optimise campaigns where functionality allows
• Analyse audience, traffic and conversion behaviour
• Identify opportunities to increase visibility within AI-led discovery
• Keep up to date with developments in ChatGPT advertising and AI advertising more broadly
• Make recommendations to the Marketing Manager regarding future opportunities
As AI-driven search and advertising develops rapidly, we want someone who is curious and proactive rather than waiting for established PPC best practices to be handed to them.
Future Paid Advertising Channels
Our current channels are not necessarily our final channels.
We expect the paid advertising landscape to continue evolving, particularly around AI search, shopping platforms, marketplaces and emerging advertising networks.
Part of your role will therefore be to:
• Research emerging paid advertising opportunities
• Identify channels that could be commercially relevant to GymSets
• Assess potential costs, audiences and likely returns
• Recommend channels worth testing
• Help establish campaigns on new platforms
• Test and measure new channels
• Scale channels that demonstrate a positive commercial return
• Stop or reduce investment in channels that do not perform
Potential future channels could include new search engines, AI platforms, marketplaces, shopping networks, social and search advertising platforms or other emerging paid acquisition opportunities.
You don't need to have experience with every future platform. We are looking for someone who can learn, test and become proficient with new advertising platforms quickly.
PPC Analysis & Reporting
You will be expected to go beyond simply producing numbers.
Regularly analyse:
• ROAS
• CPA / cost per acquisition
• Conversion rate
• Revenue
• Spend
• Click-through rate
• CPC
• Impression share
• Search terms
• Quality Score
• Product performance
• Campaign performance
• Keyword performance
• Device performance
• Geographic performance
• Day and time performance
• Customer acquisition performance
• New versus returning customer performance where data allows
• Channel-level performance
• Product-level profitability where data is available
You will provide clear, concise reporting and recommendations that explain:
1. What happened
2. Why it happened
3. What we should do about it
4. What you have already done
5. What you recommend testing next
We want reporting to produce actionable insight, not simply a spreadsheet of numbers.
PPC & Paid Advertising Optimisation
You will be responsible for the continuous improvement of our advertising activity.
This includes:
• PPC account audits
• Campaign restructuring
• Keyword research
• Competitor research
• Search term mining
• Negative keyword development
• Ad testing
• Landing page recommendations
• Conversion tracking checks
• Google Analytics / GA4 analysis
• Google Tag Manager understanding
• Google Merchant Center and product feed monitoring
• Product feed issue identification
• Conversion tracking troubleshooting
• Attribution and performance analysis
• Budget pacing
• Forecasting
• Seasonal campaign preparation
• Promotional campaign setup
• New product campaign launches
• Identifying PPC opportunities around new products
• Monitoring account health
• Keeping up with changes across advertising platforms
• Testing new features and opportunities
• Creating and maintaining PPC processes and documentation
PPC Strategy & Continuous Improvement
The Marketing Manager will own the overall marketing strategy and major commercial decisions, but we expect you to bring strong specialist recommendations to the table.
For example, you may identify that:
• We are spending too much on a particular area and should restructure the campaign
• A product or category is performing exceptionally well and deserves increased visibility
• Certain search terms are generating sales and should be separated into their own campaign
• We are losing impression share because of budget
• Certain keywords are consuming budget without converting
• Our Shopping or Performance Max structure could be improved
• We should test a different landing page or product category
• There is an opportunity to target additional relevant searches
• Competitors are appearing for valuable terms that we should investigate
• Amazon is producing a better return for a particular product category and budget should potentially be reallocated
• There is a new advertising opportunity emerging that we should test
We want someone who thinks commercially and proactively, not someone who simply follows instructions.
