I run a YouTube channel in the online marketing / creator economy space. I publish three videos a week on a fixed schedule and I'm looking for one designer to own thumbnails long term. This is not a one-off project; if the first month goes well, this is steady work for as long as you want it.
What you'll be doing:
Design 3 thumbnails per week, delivered within 48 hours of receiving the brief
Provide 2 variations per video so we can A/B test
Make quick revisions when a thumbnail underperforms and needs swapping
Keep a consistent visual identity across the channel (face, colour palette, text style) so the channel looks like one brand, not 100 random videos
The style I'm after:
Professional and clean. Think business and finance channels, not gaming or reaction content. Short text (3 to 5 words max), high contrast, one clear focal point, readable on a phone screen. No clickbait arrows, red circles, or shocked faces. The channel's credibility matters more than squeezing out an extra 0.5% CTR with gimmicks.
What you need:
A portfolio of YouTube thumbnails you've actually made (not mockups)
Strong Photoshop or Figma skills, including cutting out faces cleanly and colour grading
An understanding of what drives CTR: contrast, curiosity, and clarity
Reliable turnaround. I publish on a schedule and missing a deadline means a video goes out late
Comfortable with direct feedback and iterating quickly
Nice to have:
Experience with business, marketing, or finance channels
You track which of your thumbnails performed well and why
How to apply:
Send 3 to 5 of your best thumbnails with a one-line note on what each one was going for
Tell me your turnaround time and your rate per thumbnail
