Position: Wedding Highlight Film Editor
Work Type: Full-Time
Work Arrangement: Remote
Production Volume: Minimum 1 wedding film per week

About the Role

Garrett Museau Photography & Cinematography is looking for a talented and reliable Wedding Highlight Film Editor to join our post-production team.

The ideal candidate has a strong eye for storytelling, pacing, music, emotion, and cinematic visuals. You will take professionally captured wedding footage and transform it into polished approximately 10-minute highlight films that capture the emotion, energy, and story of each couple's wedding day.

This role is ideal for an editor who understands wedding cinematography and can work independently while consistently meeting deadlines and maintaining the creative quality of our brand.

Key Responsibilities

- Edit at least one wedding highlight film per week
- Create approximately 10-minute cinematic wedding highlight films
- Review and organize large amounts of wedding footage
- Build a compelling story from the wedding day from preparation through reception
- Select the strongest and most emotionally impactful footage
- Create smooth, cinematic transitions and pacing
- Sync and edit dialogue, vows, speeches, interviews, and natural audio
- Incorporate music to enhance the emotion and storytelling
- Perform professional color correction and color grading
- Clean and mix dialogue, speeches, vows, music, and ambient audio
- Maintain consistent visual and audio quality throughout each film
- Incorporate drone footage and multiple camera angles when applicable
- Create engaging opening sequences and memorable endings
- Export final films in formats appropriate for YouTube and other platforms
- Create YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and other short-form social media content from wedding footage
- Make revisions based on creative direction and client requirements
- Maintain organized project files and media
- Communicate consistently regarding project status, deadlines, and revisions

Required Qualifications

- Extensive knowledge and experience with DaVinci Resolve
- Proven experience editing wedding films, highlight films, or cinematic event films
- Ability to consistently complete at least one approximately 10-minute film per week
- Strong understanding of cinematic storytelling and visual pacing
- Strong knowledge of color correction and professional color grading
- Strong audio editing and mixing skills
- Ability to work with multi-camera footage
- Experience working with high-resolution footage and large media files
- Ability to create engaging YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Reliable communication and responsiveness

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience editing Sony camera footage
- Experience working with S-Log/S-Log3 and other log footage
- Experience with LUTs and professional color workflows
- Experience editing drone footage
- Experience with cinematic wedding storytelling
- Understanding of social media trends and short-form video pacing
- Previous experience working with professional wedding photography/cinematography companies
- Portfolio demonstrating wedding films and/or cinematic event work

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can tell a story, not simply assemble clips.

Our ideal editor understands that a great wedding film should feel emotional, intentional, and cinematic. You should know how to build anticipation, create emotional moments, use speeches and vows effectively, and maintain the viewer's attention throughout the entire film.

Reliability is extremely important. We need an editor who can consistently take on a minimum of one film per week, meet established deadlines, communicate throughout the editing process, and maintain a high standard of quality from project to project.

Portfolio Requirement

Applicants should provide a portfolio showcasing their editing abilities.

Please include:

- Wedding highlight films
- Cinematic event films, if applicable
- Short-form content/Reels/YouTube Shorts
- Examples demonstrating color grading
- Examples demonstrating audio editing
- Any other work that demonstrates your storytelling ability

Equipment & Software

Required:

- DaVinci Resolve — advanced/extensive proficiency
- Reliable computer capable of handling professional 4K video editing
- Reliable high-speed internet connection
- Adequate storage and backup capabilities for large video projects
