JOB OVERVIEW

We are a structural engineering firm based in Texas, USA, specializing in residential foundation evaluations and are looking for an experienced civil engineer or engineering professional to join our production team.

Applicants MUST be proficient in AutoCAD, Golden Software Surfer, and written and spoken English. Please do not apply unless you meet all three requirements.

Because our company and clients are based in Texas, strong written and spoken English is required. You must be able to understand technical instructions, communicate effectively with our U.S.-based team, and work with English-language engineering reports and documentation.

This is not simply a CAD drafting position. The individual will be involved in multiple aspects of our engineering report production process, including AutoCAD drafting, Surfer modeling, Microsoft Excel calculations, data processing, and report preparation.

Primary Responsibilities

(1) AutoCAD Architectural Floor Plans
Converting field sketches into accurate residential floor plans using AutoCAD
Plotting foundation elevation measurement locations and corresponding data
Maintaining consistent drawing standards and layouts
Preparing drawings and graphics for incorporation into engineering reports

(2) Golden Software Surfer
Using the floor plan and elevation data, you will also be responsible for producing:
2D color contour/heat maps
Topographic-style foundation elevation maps
3D surface models of the residential foundation
Professional engineering graphics that clearly illustrate elevation differences and movement patterns
The Surfer models must accurately correspond with the AutoCAD floor plan and actual measurement locations.

(3) Microsoft Excel & Engineering Calculations
You will also work extensively with Microsoft Excel and will be responsible for:
Entering and organizing field data
Preparing and processing engineering calculations using established company procedures
Reviewing data for completeness and consistency
Maintaining calculation spreadsheets and standardized templates
Preparing calculation results for incorporation into engineering reports

(4) Engineering Report Production
You will work alongside other members of our production team in preparing engineering reports.
Responsibilities may include:
Organizing field data and photographs
Preparing drawings, calculations, tables, and graphics
Incorporating engineering information into established report templates
Assisting with report preparation and quality control
Coordinating with other production team members to complete reports accurately and efficiently

Production Environment
This is a production-oriented engineering environment where both accuracy and efficiency are important. We need someone who can follow an established workflow, produce consistently accurate work, and collaborate effectively with other members of the production team.

Different team members contribute to various portions of the final engineering report, so communication, organization, and attention to detail are essential.

Golden Software Surfer
Microsoft Excel
Microsoft Word
Creating residential or building floor plans
Working with XYZ/elevation data
Gridding and interpolation
2D contour and color relief/heat maps
3D surface modeling
Technical calculations and data processing
Reading and interpreting field sketches and engineering information
Preparing accurate, professional technical documents

Experience with civil engineering, structural engineering, surveying, topographic mapping, geotechnical engineering, residential foundations, or building elevation surveys is strongly preferred.

Your approximate production time for creating an AutoCAD residential floor plan from a field sketch and then producing the corresponding Surfer 2D heat map and 3D surface model.

We are looking for someone interested in becoming an ongoing member of our engineering production team rather than simply completing a single project.
