I'm looking for a long-term video editor to help create travel content for platforms like YouTube and Instagram.
This is a good fit for someone who understands that travel content is not just about beautiful footage; it's about storytelling, pacing, personality, and creating a reason to keep watching.
WHAT YOU'LL EDIT
• Short-form: Reels & YouTube Shorts, under 60 seconds, 9:16
• Long-form: YouTube travel videos, approximately 5–15 minutes, 16:9
• Starting volume: approximately 2 long-form videos + 4–6 short-form videos per month
• Potential for more work as the channel grows
THE STYLE
The overall feel is cozy, warm, cinematic, natural, and elevated, never loud or overly flashy.
Reference examples:
• Travel Short:
• Travel Vlog:
WHAT THIS MEANS IN PRACTICE
Short-form: Strong 1–2 second hook, engaging but natural pacing, clean title cards, intentional cuts/music, strong visual storytelling, and minimal modern text.
Long-form: Give viewers a reason to keep watching within the first 30–45 seconds, with strong storytelling and pacing. Know when to move quickly vs. let a shot breathe, and integrate B-roll, photos, music, and voiceover naturally.
Text & Captions: Modern, elegant fonts, clean subtitles when needed, simple animations, and no excessive effects or trendy transitions.
Music & Sound: Cinematic, soft, atmospheric, or lo-fi music that supports the story and changes naturally with the scene. Copyright-safe music only.
MUST HAVE
• Experience editing travel content, vlogs, or storytelling-based content
• At least 2 published examples you personally edited
• Proficiency in Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or CapCut
• Strong understanding of pacing and storytelling
• Comfortable working with 4K footage
• Reliable communication and ability to meet deadlines
• Experience using copyright-safe/licensed music
• Reliable internet for downloading approximately 50–100 GB of footage per month
NICE TO HAVE
• Thumbnail design experience
• Experience editing both short-form and long-form content
• Interest in travel, photography, or visual storytelling
HOURS & PAY
Approximately 5–10 hours per week to start.
$6–$10/hour, depending on experience and quality of work.
Paid monthly.
This is intended to be a long-term position, with the opportunity for additional work as the content schedule grows.
TO APPLY
Put the word GREEN in your subject line. Then send:
1. 2–3 travel/vlog videos you personally edited. For each, say what you did: full edit, color only, or captions only.
2. Watch the first 60 seconds of this vlog:
3. Which editing software you use.
4. Your hourly rate.
5. Your typical turnaround time for short-form and long-form.
6. A short explanation of your work process.
Shortlisted applicants do a paid test edit ($50, real travel footage), paid whether or not you are hired.
Please only apply if you're comfortable with story-driven editing and a cinematic, understated style rather than heavily effects-driven editing.
