JOB OVERVIEW

**MUST SUBMIT VIDEO APPLICATION**

We’re looking for an experienced professional writer to work with us on an ongoing project basis.

Most of the work sits within the digital marketing and online advertising industry, so we’re looking for someone who can understand the subject at a deeper level rather than simply rewrite information found online.

The work

You’ll work across a mix of:

Ghostwritten articles for the owner of a digital advertising business
Commentary on digital marketing and advertising news
Research-heavy articles and opinion pieces
Educational content covering more advanced marketing concepts
Other written content based on interviews, recordings, research and supplied briefs
You won’t be responsible for publishing, uploading or managing the content. We have a team for that. Your focus is the research and writing.

What we're looking for:

Writing ability is the most important part of this role.

You should be able to:

Write clearly, concisely and with personality
Research a topic properly rather than relying on surface-level summaries
Understand advanced digital marketing and online advertising concepts
Keep up with industry news and developments
Ghostwrite convincingly in someone else's voice
Turn technical or complicated ideas into writing that is easy to follow without dumbing them down
Follow a detailed brief closely
Produce accurate first drafts without requiring extensive rewriting
Take feedback well and apply it consistently to future work
Communicate comfortably on video calls when discussing briefs, ideas or feedback
Be available for scheduled video meetings when required

Your writing style:

We don't want generic corporate content or writing that feels like it came straight out of ChatGPT.

Using AI as part of your process is completely fine. We use it too.

What matters is the finished product.

You need to know how to take research, source material and AI-assisted drafts and turn them into writing that feels natural, specific and human. The final piece should have a point of view, rhythm and personality rather than sounding templated.

A major part of the role will also be learning the owner's writing and speaking style and being able to reproduce that voice consistently.

Digital marketing knowledge

Previous experience writing within digital marketing is strongly preferred.

You don't necessarily need to be a hands-on media buyer, but you should be comfortable researching and understanding topics involving areas such as Google Ads, Meta Ads, paid media, creative, tracking, attribution, AI and broader developments within digital marketing.

We need someone who can understand what they're writing about, question things that don't make sense and identify what deserves further research.

This could become substantial ongoing work

We're hiring on a project basis initially, but there is plenty of writing work available.

For someone who can consistently understand the brief, capture the right voice and deliver strong work with minimal revisions, there is an opportunity for regular ongoing projects.

How to apply

Please send:

A short video introduction about your writing experience
Your experience writing about digital marketing, advertising or related subjects
A portfolio or links to relevant published work
Examples of ghostwriting, research-heavy or thought-leadership work if available
Your availability
Your project or hourly rate

Please don't send only generic SEO blog samples. We're particularly interested in seeing work that demonstrates research, judgement, concise writing and the ability to develop a distinct voice. Include the words DG writer in your subject title when applying.
