Social Media Director (Part-Time, Remote, Contract)
The Neshamah Institute |
About Us
The Neshamah Institute is a dues-free, membership-free, post-denominational Jewish community serving South Florida in person and people worldwide online. Founded in 2010 by Rabbi Amy Rader, Neshamah is built on radical inclusivity, personal relationships, and accessible Jewish life. Our online presence is one of the main ways new people find us, and we are ready to grow it.
The Role
We are looking for a creative, organized, and reliable Social Media Director to manage our posting calendar and grow our online audience and engagement, with a special focus on TikTok. Some of the content already exists: we have a large library of finished video series (including Parshah Scoop, The Torah Boss, 18 Sparks for Shabbat, Seasons of Life, and Two Jews, Three Opinions) ready to be scheduled. Your job is to post it consistently, create supporting static and video posts, and help us learn what works. The job also includes creating new content based on the details below.
Content Focus
Our social media centers on three areas:
Event promotion and recaps (our main focus). Promoting Shabbat services, holiday celebrations, and mitzvah projects, then sharing event recaps using real photos and video clips from our community gatherings.
Jewish education. Promoting our three education departments: adult learning, Hebrew School, and our B'nai Mitzvah program,
showing families and adults the learning opportunities Neshamah offers.
Lifecycle services. Promoting Rabbi Amy and Neshamah as a home for Jewish lifecycle moments, including wedding officiating, baby namings, and funerals.

Responsibilities

Schedule existing video series according to the established calendar, using US Eastern Time
Create original static graphics and short-form video posts (Reels, TikToks, Shorts) using our brand colors and style
Create event promotion posts and edit event photos and video clips into engaging recap posts
Adapt content for each platform's format, captions, hashtags, and best practices
Lead TikTok growth: trends, hooks, captions, posting times, and experimentation
Follow a clear content creation and review process so every post is checked for accuracy, spelling, links, and tone before it goes live
Submit posts for Rabbi Amy's approval according to our approval workflow before publishing
Monitor comments and messages, flagging anything sensitive or requiring a pastoral or rabbinic response
Check in daily with a brief progress update (a quick message is fine)
Meet weekly with Rabbi Amy by video call to review upcoming content and recent performance
Prepare a short monthly metrics report (reach, followers, engagement, top posts, TikTok growth) with recommendations for the next month
Required
Proven experience managing social media for a business, nonprofit, or creator account (please share examples)
Fluent, natural-sounding written English suited to a US audience
Strong skills in a design and video editing tool such as Canva, CapCut, or Adobe Express
Ability to turn raw event photos and video clips into polished recap posts
A clear, organized process for creating, reviewing, and scheduling content
Attention to detail and reliability with deadlines
Comfort receiving feedback and working within an approval process
Reliable internet connection and your own computer and software
Availability for a short daily check-in and a weekly video meeting
Respect for Jewish community values and sensitivity to religious content
Preferred
Familiarity with GoHighLevel (GHL) social planner for scheduling
Proven TikTok growth experience
Experience working with US-based clients or audiences
Experience with nonprofit, faith-based, education, or wedding and event accounts
