Key Responsibilities
– Build and implement the KYC/KYB QA framework, including sampling, scoring and review methodology. Design the QA framework from the ground up, a risk-weighted sampling approach (higher-risk cases reviewed more frequently than lower-risk ones), a scoring methodology that captures both document completeness and the quality of the risk judgment behind it, and a review cadence that scales as case volume grows.
– Conduct quality reviews of KYC/KYB, CDD and EDD cases, including higher-risk customers. Independently review completed onboarding files checking risk-tier accuracy, screening disposition, source of funds/wealth evidencing, and (for entity clients) whether ownership structures were properly unwrapped to identify beneficial owners. Higher-risk and EDD cases receive closer scrutiny given the greater consequence of getting them wrong.
– Identify errors, trends and root causes and recommend improvements. Go beyond flagging individual mistakes — group findings by root cause (e.g. a documentation gap vs. a genuine risk judgment error vs. a partner-specific requirement being missed) so fixes target the actual cause, whether that's a training gap, an SOP gap, or a partner requirement that isn't properly documented.
– Develop QA reporting, KPIs and management information for the Head of Compliance.
– Own a regular reporting cadence covering quality trends, recurring error types, and partner specific RFI patterns — feeding a core KPI: reducing avoidable back-and-forth with our banking partners by catching issues before submission, not after.
– Work closely with the Head of Compliance to improve processes and controls.
– Act as the operational link between the compliance policy framework and how the team actually executes day to day — flagging where documented process and real practice have drifted apart, and helping close that gap.
– Identify training needs and provide feedback to onboarding teams.
– Use QA findings to drive what training actually happens — not generic refreshers, but targeted sessions addressing the specific gaps the data is showing (e.g. a pattern of source of funds vs. source of wealth confusion, or inconsistent handling of layered ownership structures).
– Continuously improve the QA framework as the business grows.
– Evolve the framework as new banking partners, products, or entity types are added.
Qualifications
– Must have at least 3 years of QA KYC team lead experience
– Must have experience in KYC, AML, Compliance or Financial Crime QA within fintech, payments or financial services.
– Strong understanding of KYC/CDD/EDD and risk-based onboarding.
– Direct, hands-on experience assessing KYC/KYB case quality (not general customer support QA experience). This role needs someone who can independently judge whether a compliance decision was right, not just whether a process step was followed.
– Experience building a QA framework from scratch. (This is a build role, not a maintain role. The successful candidate has built up a QA function before, not just operated within an existing one
– Strong understanding of QA methodologies, scorecard design, and performance evaluation.
– Comfortable designing scoring criteria that are consistent and defensible across reviewers, and calibrating so different reviewers reach the same conclusion on the same file.
– Genuine technical depth, able to independently assess whether a risk tier was applied correctly, whether EDD was sufficient, and whether an ownership structure was properly unwrapped, not just whether a checklist was completed.
– Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable recommendations. Able to turn QA findings into practical process improvements/training
– QA findings are only useful if they change something, this role needs to turn patterns into concrete process, training, or policy recommendations, not just produce reports.
– Confident, challenging decisions and escalating issues. This role will sometimes need to tell an experienced analyst, or flag to the Head of Compliance, that something isn't good enough.
– The end output of QA work here isn't a report that sits unread — it's a training session, an SOP update, or a process fix that actually closes the gap that was found.
– Must be comfortable using their own equipment
– Must be comfortable working Dubai hours
– Must be able to commit to working exclusively with the company and not be engaged in any part-time employment
