The role in one line
Use MeasureSquare 8 to measure flooring quantities from architectural plans for aged care facilities across Australia, and give our project team accurate, clearly labelled takeoffs they can price with confidence.
About us
Care Flooring Australia (CFA) specialises in flooring for Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACFs). We supply and install safety vinyl, carpet, carpet tiles and vinyl plank in resident rooms, ensuites, corridors, dining and lounge areas, kitchens, laundries and back-of-house spaces. Our projects run across NSW and QLD, and much of our work is done in occupied facilities where residents are living on site. That means staged work, tight timeframes and getting the details right the first time.
We are building a small remote team to support our project supervisors in Australia. This role is the first step in our estimating process: you measure, and our team in Australia prices and quotes.
What you will do
Receive architectural or facility PDF plans, finishes schedules and tender/scope documents for each job.
Receive hand-drawn plans that you re-create as a PDF.
Import plans into MeasureSquare 8, set and check the scale, and draw every room and area to be floored.
Assign the correct product and service to each area according to the finishes schedule (for example safety vinyl, carpet tile, broadloom, vinyl plank).
Plan roll layouts and seams for sheet vinyl and broadloom carpet so that waste is kept low and seams sit in sensible positions.
Calculate and report:
Supply quantities: lineal metres (LM) for roll goods, m² (and boxes) for tiles and planks
Installation metres (m² installed) for each product
Coving, cove former and capping strip (LM), and the number of internal and external corners for vinyl
Floor wastes (drains) and the accessories needed for each, with quantities
Weld rod (LM) for all seams and joins
Uplift (take-up) m² and floor preparation m²
Trims and transitions: door thresholds, ramps, strips and stair nosings
Room counts (resident rooms, ensuites), door openings and any stages or zones for occupied facilities
Cross-check your takeoff against the plans and scope before submitting it, and list any assumptions or questions clearly.
Complete the takeoff report in MeasureSquare 8 and notify the Project Supervisor in Australia that it is ready.
Keep a tidy, consistent file and naming structure so anyone in the team can pick up a job.
What this role does NOT include
No pricing, no quotations and no product selection. You will not contact clients or facilities directly. If something in the plans or scope is unclear, you raise it with the Project Supervisor.
What we are looking for
Attention to detail is everything in this role
One missed ensuite, a coving setting left off, or an old plan revision can cost thousands on a job. We need someone who checks every room, every setting and every line of the scope, every time, and who catches their own mistakes before anyone else sees them.

Your CV, including the takeoff software you have used and for how long
Use 6 apply points for your application
A short note (under 200 words) on a commercial flooring or construction takeoff you have completed
Your answer to this question: "A corridor is 32.5m long and 2.4m wide. It will be finished in 2m wide safety vinyl, coved 150mm up both walls. How would you work out the lineal metres of vinyl and the weld rod needed?"
Start your application with the words "Aged Care Takeoff" so we know you read the whole ad.
Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a paid or unpaid practical takeoff test on a sample plan.
