Southwind Marketing is looking for an experienced web designer to help review, improve, and redesign existing client websites.
This role will focus heavily on taking current websites and improving the design, layout, user experience, content presentation, responsiveness, and overall professionalism of the site.
We already manage a growing portfolio of client websites, so this is not a role where you will always be starting from a blank page. A large part of the work will involve reviewing existing websites, identifying opportunities for improvement, and turning them into cleaner, more modern, better-performing websites.
We are looking for someone with strong design judgment who can take direction but also independently recognize when a page, section, layout, or user experience needs improvement.
Responsibilities include:
Review existing client websites and identify design and UX improvements
Redesign homepages and internal pages
Improve layouts, spacing, typography, imagery, navigation, and calls to action
Refresh older websites without unnecessarily rebuilding everything from scratch
Create new page designs when needed
Make websites fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile
Work within existing client branding and style guidelines
Improve visual consistency across an entire website
Replace weak or outdated design elements
Help organize content so pages are easier to understand and navigate
Build and edit WordPress websites
Work with Elementor and custom WordPress environments when needed
Review live websites for broken layouts, visual issues, or poor mobile experiences
Prepare website concepts and redesign recommendations for client projects
Work with the Southwind team on new website builds as workload grows
We are looking for:
Strong website design portfolio
Excellent understanding of modern web design and UX
Strong WordPress experience
Elementor experience preferred
Ability to work with existing websites instead of only designing from scratch
Good understanding of mobile-responsive design
Strong typography, spacing, hierarchy, and layout skills
Ability to follow existing branding while still improving the overall design
Good written English and communication
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Experience with HTML/CSS is a plus
Experience with Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools is helpful
This role will begin as project-based/gig work while we work through existing client sites and upcoming redesign projects. There is potential for consistent part-time or full-time work for the right person as Southwind continues to grow.
