Senior Legal Assistant / Paralegal
Full-Time • Remote • Long-Term (US Law Firm)
Sheil Law Firm, a Denver, Colorado law firm, is hiring one senior legal assistant/paralegal to work directly with the attorney.
The firm is one attorney and this seat. There is no layer of management and nowhere for work to hide. When clients trust the firm, it will often be because of something you did.
Most clients come to us on one of the hardest days of their lives: a death in the family, a child in trouble at school, or another life-changing event. They will not remember the legal work. They will remember whether someone answered, whether it was right, and whether it was done on time.
Because of that, two things matter more than anything on your résumé:
Responsiveness
When a client or the attorney contacts you during your shift, you acknowledge it promptly, even if the answer is simply:
"Received. Working on it. I'll have an update by 3."
Silence is the fastest way to fail here.
Ownership
You take tasks to completion without being chased. If you hit a roadblock, you raise it immediately. If a deadline is at risk, the attorney hears it from you first.
“I was waiting to hear back" is not a status update. Following up is part of the job.
Beyond those two principles, the standard is simple: clients feel taken care of, work is accurate, and records stay current. If it isn't in the system, it didn't happen.
We hire for temperament as much as skill. If you need every task assigned, prioritized, and explained before you begin, this role is probably not a fit.
What You Get Back
We are building this firm and want someone who wants to build it with us.
Your work will be visible and meaningful. In return, you get an attorney who backs you, pays on time, values initiative, and rewards contribution. We are looking for someone who wants a seat they can grow into and keep for years.
Practice Areas
The paralegal will primarily support matters involving:
- Estate planning (wills, trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives)
- Probate and estate administration
- Guardianships and conservatorships
- Guardian ad Litem representation
- Juvenile, family, and paternity matters
- Education and special-needs advocacy
- Elder law and adult-protection matters
The firm may also handle selected matters in other practice areas, including personal injury, civil litigation, administrative proceedings, and related legal matters. The ideal candidate is comfortable learning new processes and supporting work across multiple practice areas as the firm's needs evolve.

- Reliable high-speed internet with a backup connection
- Backup power source
