We are a U.S.-based family business group seeking an experienced Philippines-based Senior Accountant/Fractional
Controller to provide high-level accounting oversight for two established small businesses.
This is NOT primarily a data-entry bookkeeping position. We need a senior accounting professional who can
independently review the books, identify accounting problems, maintain important Balance Sheet schedules, make
appropriate accounting corrections, and communicate clearly with management and our U.S. tax preparer.
The businesses include an LLC taxed as an S corporation operating a multistate U.S. contracting/service business and a
multi-member LLC taxed as a partnership operating a short-term rental/property business.
Responsibilities include:
• Balance Sheet review and supporting schedules
• Month-end accounting review
• Shareholder/partner loan roll-forwards and repayments
• Owner contributions versus loans versus distributions
• Debt and payroll liability review
• Accounts receivable and potential bad-debt accounting
• Fixed-asset/depreciation-related accounting records
• Review of unusual or potentially misclassified transactions
• Supported adjusting journal entries and cleanup documentation
• Coordination of accounting information with our U.S. tax preparer
• Plain-English reporting to non-accountant owners
An immediate project includes verifying/reconstructing substantial personal funds advanced by the owners to both
businesses and tracing subsequent repayments against those balances.
Required: strong U.S. small-business accounting experience; advanced QuickBooks Online; strong Balance
Sheet/month-end close skills; owner/shareholder/partner loan experience; ability to reconstruct accounts from source
transactions; excellent written English; proactive problem identification.
Preferred: Philippine CPA; U.S. S-corporation and partnership experience; experience working with U.S. CPA/EA/tax
firms; Wave Accounting; construction/service or rental/property experience.
The initial engagement is a paid diagnostic of up to 3 hours. After the diagnostic, provide findings and an estimate for
any cleanup before additional hours are approved. After cleanup, we anticipate approximately 1-3 hours per month for
ongoing controller-level oversight.
TO APPLY: Begin your application with the exact words BALANCE SHEET REVIEW.
Then answer: What are the three most important things you would examine to determine whether a small
business's Balance Sheet is actually reliable?
Also provide: accounting qualifications/Philippine CPA status; years working with U.S. businesses; S-corp/partnership
experience; owner-loan experience; QBO and Wave experience; hourly USD rate; comfort with 1-3 hours/month after
cleanup; availability for a paid 3-hour diagnostic; and two professional references, preferably including a U.S. client.
Generic applications will not be considered.
