Virtual Accountant / CPA
Remote | Healthcare Organization
We’re looking for an experienced accountant or CPA who doesn’t just close the books.
We want someone who understands what the numbers are telling us, catches problems before they become expensive, and helps leadership make better decisions.
We’re a fast-growing healthcare organization managing multiple entities, contractors, facilities, and millions of dollars in annual revenue.
That means we need someone who is organized, accurate, proactive, and extremely comfortable working with complexity.
If Excel scares you, this probably isn’t the role.
If you can make Excel do things most people didn’t know Excel could do, keep reading.
What You’ll Own
You’ll help us maintain clean, accurate financials and give leadership clear visibility into what’s happening across the business.
You may be responsible for:
• Monthly financial reporting
• P&L and balance sheet review
• Cash flow tracking and forecasting
• Account reconciliations
• Accounts payable and receivable oversight
• Contractor payment reconciliation
• Expense analysis
• Budget versus actual reporting
• Identifying financial discrepancies and leakage
• Building financial dashboards
• Preparing information for our tax and accounting partners
• Improving accounting workflows and controls
• Helping leadership understand where the money is going and why
We don’t want someone who simply records transactions.
We want someone who thinks.
You Need to Be Dangerous With Excel
We mean it.
You should be extremely comfortable with:
• Pivot tables
• XLOOKUP / INDEX MATCH
• SUMIFS and advanced formulas
• Data cleaning
• Financial modeling
• Multi-entity reporting
• Large datasets
• Dashboards
• Reconciliation models
• Building spreadsheets that other people can actually understand
Bonus points if you look at a messy spreadsheet and immediately start thinking about how to automate it.
AI Should Already Be Part of How You Work
We are actively building AI into our operations.
You should be comfortable using tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms to work faster and smarter.
That could include:
• Analyzing financial data
• Finding anomalies
• Improving spreadsheet workflows
• Drafting reports
• Building formulas
• Creating SOPs
• Automating repetitive work
• Summarizing financial information for leadership
We are not looking for someone afraid that AI will replace accountants.
We’re looking for the accountant who knows how to use AI to become significantly better at their job.
Who We’re Looking For
You’re probably a strong fit if:
• You have significant accounting experience
• CPA designation is highly valued
• You have experience managing books for growing businesses
• You understand accrual accounting and financial statements
• You’re comfortable working across multiple entities
• You’re obsessive about accuracy
• You communicate clearly when something doesn’t look right
• You don’t wait three weeks to mention a problem you discovered today
• You can turn financial complexity into something leadership can understand
• You enjoy improving systems instead of repeatedly working around broken ones
Healthcare experience is a major plus.
Experience with medical practices, anesthesia groups, MSOs, independent contractors, or other healthcare organizations is even better.
How We Work
We move quickly.
We ask questions.
We constantly improve our systems.
If something is inefficient, we want you to say it.
If something doesn’t make financial sense, we want you to challenge it.
If you find money leaking somewhere, we want to know.
You will not be hired to quietly sit in the background and enter numbers.
We want another smart person at the table.
What Success Looks Like
Leadership should be able to ask:
“How are we doing?”
And you can answer clearly.
“What happened to our margins?”
You know where to look.
“Why did expenses increase?”
You can explain it.
“Is something wrong here?”
You probably already caught it.
That is the level we’re looking for.
How to Apply
Send us:
1. Your resume or CV
2. A short introduction about your accounting background
3. Your experience with Excel
4. The AI tools you currently use in your work
5. One example of a financial process, spreadsheet, or system you improved
And answer one question:
“What is something an exceptional accountant notices that an average accountant usually misses?”
We care less about perfect corporate answers and more about how you think.
If you’re sharp, experienced, comfortable with technology, and want to help build the financial infrastructure behind a growing healthcare organization, we’d love to hear from you.
