Hello!
We are looking for a **high-level YouTube thumbnail designer** to work with us long-term.
Our channels:
**YouTube – Spilt Milk Podcast**
**Instagram – The Blumers**
We are increasing our YouTube production and our goal will be approximately **3 podcast episodes per week**.
For every episode, we want **3 strong thumbnail variations** that we can use for YouTube's A/B thumbnail testing.
That means the normal workload will be approximately:
- **3 episodes per week**
- **3 thumbnail variations per episode**
- Approximately **9 finished thumbnails per week**
### This Is NOT Just Graphic Design
We are specifically looking for someone who understands **YouTube thumbnails and click-through rate**.
The thumbnails need to make people curious enough to click without looking cheap, overly clickbait, or *AI-generated*.
You should understand things like:
- YouTube CTR
- Curiosity
- Facial expressions
- Composition
- Contrast
- Visual hierarchy
- Simple thumbnail concepts
- Making thumbnails understandable in less than a second
- Designing differently for mobile viewers
- Creating multiple genuinely different concepts for A/B testing
We do **not** want someone who simply puts text over a photo.
### Revisions Are Part of the Job
For each episode, you will create thumbnail concepts and we will provide feedback.
There may be **multiple rounds of revisions** until we have **3 thumbnails that we genuinely like and are comfortable testing on YouTube**.
We need someone who:
- Takes feedback well
- Can make revisions quickly
- Doesn't get frustrated by multiple revisions
- Can come up with new ideas when a concept isn't working
- Pays extremely close attention to details
The goal is not just to complete three thumbnails.
The goal is to end with **three thumbnails that could all realistically win the A/B test.**
### Our Style
Our content is family-friendly, funny, wholesome, and personality-driven.
We generally prefer thumbnails that are:
- Clean
- Bright
- Easy to understand
- Heavily focused on faces and emotion
- Not overly cluttered
- Not obviously AI-generated
- Designed specifically to perform on YouTube
You should be comfortable working with real photos of people and keeping their faces looking natural.
### How To Apply
Please send:
1. Your best YouTube thumbnail examples
2. Links to YouTube channels you have created thumbnails for, if applicable
3. Your expected hourly rate
4. What software you use
5. A short explanation of how you approach creating a high-CTR thumbnail
**IMPORTANT:** Start your application with the word **"THUMBNAIL"** so we know you read the entire job post.
We are looking for someone we can work with **long-term** as the channel continues to grow.
Thank you! I look forward to seeing your work.
