JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for an experienced YouTube Commentary Producer, Researcher & Video Editor to help create long-form YouTube videos covering topics such as pop culture, celebrities, influencers, internet culture, trending stories, entertainment news, and online controversies.

This is NOT simply a video editing position.

We are looking for someone who can take a topic and help build the entire video from beginning to end including researching the story, finding original source material, developing the story structure, writing natural commentary/narration, sourcing relevant clips, and editing everything into a polished long-form YouTube video.

You should already have experience creating this type of content.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will be responsible for taking an approved topic and turning it into a complete YouTube video.

Your responsibilities will include:

*Researching pop culture, celebrity, influencer, internet culture, entertainment news, online controversies, and trending stories
*Finding original and relevant source material from TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, X, interviews, articles, podcasts, and other appropriate sources
*Researching the background and timeline so the video gives viewers the context they need
*Identifying the most interesting angle for the story
*Organizing the information into a clear and entertaining story structure
*Writing natural, conversational narration/scripts for the host
*Determining where clips, screenshots, social posts, headlines, interviews, and other supporting material should appear within the video
*Providing the host with the script/talking portions that need to be recorded
*Taking the host's recorded footage or voiceover and editing it together with the sourced material
*Editing long-form YouTube videos with strong pacing, visual variety, text, music, transitions, screenshots, clips, and other elements where appropriate
*Reviewing the finished video for accuracy, flow, pacing, and overall quality before delivery

The goal is NOT to create compilations of other people's clips.

The source material should support the host's original commentary, reporting, explanation, and discussion of the story.

YOU MUST HAVE:

*Previous experience creating long-form YouTube commentary content
*Previous experience working with content involving pop culture, celebrities, celebrity news/gossip, influencers, internet culture, trending stories, entertainment news, online drama/controversies, or closely related topics
*Strong online research skills
*Experience independently finding relevant source clips, social posts, screenshots, interviews, articles, and other supporting material
*Strong long-form scriptwriting skills
*Ability to write narration that sounds natural when spoken, not like an article, essay, or generic AI-generated script
*Strong understanding of story structure and how to keep viewers interested throughout a long-form video
*Strong long-form video editing skills
*Understanding of hooks, pacing, retention, visual changes, and when to introduce supporting clips
*Ability to distinguish between credible source material, rumors, allegations, opinions, and confirmed information
*Strong attention to detail
*Ability to work independently without needing the host to provide the research, clips, script, and creative direction for every video

THIS POSITION IS NOT FOR YOU IF...

Your experience is primarily editing Shorts, Reels, or TikToks
You normally receive a finished script, voiceover, clips, and assets before beginning your work
You expect us to research the story and provide all source material
You only edit footage provided by the client
You have never written scripts for long-form commentary videos
You have no experience with pop culture, celebrity, influencer, internet culture, entertainment, or trending-story content
Your experience is primarily podcasts, gaming videos, corporate videos, real estate videos, or unrelated YouTube content

We are specifically looking for someone who already understands this style of YouTube content.

At least one should involve pop culture, celebrities, influencers, internet culture, trending stories, entertainment commentary, online controversies, or a closely related topic.

2. TELL US EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID

For EACH video, tell us whether you personally handled:

3. TELL US WHAT THE CLIENT GAVE YOU

Choose ONE of the videos you submitted and tell us exactly what you received from the client before you started.

For example:

Did they give you only the topic?

Did they give you a completed script?

Did they provide the voiceover?

Did they provide all the clips?

Did they provide research?

We want to understand what you personally created and sourced versus what was handed to you.

4. WALK US THROUGH YOUR PROCESS

Assume we give you nothing except an approved topic.

Briefly explain how you would take that topic from:

Topic → Research → Sources/Receipts → Story Structure → Script → Host Recording → Editing → Finished YouTube Video

We are looking for someone who can own this process, not someone who needs each step prepared for them.

We are looking for someone who can research the story, find the receipts, write the commentary, and edit the final video, not simply put together footage someone else has already prepared.
