JOB OVERVIEW

About the Role
Innovate Well Group is seeking a thoughtful and highly skilled Writer & Editorial Partner who can transform ideas, conversations, experiences, notes, and voice recordings into compelling written content.
The initial focus will be Home Is Moving and thought leadership for Innovate Well Group.
Home Is Moving explores motherhood, travel, living abroad, identity, family, belonging, and what it means to continue becoming while raising a family.
IWG's thought leadership explores organizational capacity, operations, leadership, workforce, systems, consulting, and the infrastructure that allows mission driven organizations to thrive.
This role requires more than technically strong writing. The Writer & Editorial Partner must be able to listen closely, recognize the story or insight within an idea, and capture the Founder's natural voice without replacing it with their own.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and draft Home Is Moving Substack essays based on interviews, conversations, notes, voice recordings, experiences, and ideas
• Edit and strengthen existing drafts while maintaining the author's natural voice
• Conduct periodic interviews with the Founder to capture stories, observations, lessons, and emerging ideas
• Identify potential stories and themes within conversations and everyday experiences
• Develop thought leadership content for Innovate Well Group
• Draft social media copy and other supporting written content
• Help develop and maintain editorial calendars
• Maintain and continuously refine voice and editorial guidelines for each brand
• Conduct research when additional context or supporting information is needed
• Collaborate directly with the Content & Social Media Manager to identify opportunities to repurpose longer written content
• Maintain a pipeline of future story and content ideas
• Help establish repeatable editorial systems that allow content to move efficiently from idea to publication
Editorial Approach
Assignments may begin with a developed idea, an incomplete draft, a short conversation, or a voice recording about an experience or observation.
The Writer & Editorial Partner should be able to recognize when there is a larger story inside the initial idea and ask thoughtful questions that bring that story forward.
During the initial onboarding period, drafts will be reviewed closely to establish voice, editorial standards, personal boundaries, and expectations.
As trust develops, the Writer & Editorial Partner will assume increasing ownership of the editorial process. Established content should eventually be able to move from idea through drafting, editing, and publication with significantly less Founder involvement.
The objective is not to manufacture a polished version of someone's voice. The objective is to preserve the perspective, personality, and humanity behind the writing while creating the capacity to publish more consistently.
Qualifications
• Exceptional writing and editing skills
• Demonstrated ability to capture another person's voice
• Experience interviewing individuals and translating conversations into written stories
• Strong understanding of personal essays and narrative storytelling
• Ability to write clear, compelling professional thought leadership
• Ability to move comfortably between personal storytelling and business content
• Strong editorial judgment
• Ability to work effectively with voice recordings, rough notes, incomplete ideas, and early drafts
• Curiosity and the ability to ask thoughtful questions
• Strong organizational skills and ability to independently manage assignments and deadlines
• High level of discretion when working with personal stories and confidential information
Success in This Role
Success means strong ideas no longer disappear because there was not enough time to turn them into finished writing.
Home Is Moving publishes consistently while retaining an authentic and recognizable voice. Innovate Well Group develops a stronger body of original thought leadership. It captures conversations, experiences, and observations and develops them into meaningful content.
Most importantly, the finished writing should continue to sound and feel like the person behind it.
