PAY AND HOURS - READ THIS FIRST
$2.50 to $3.00 an hour. Everyone new starts in that range.
Full time, eight hours a day, from day one - including the first month, which is a trial for both of us at the same rate.
At full time that works out at roughly $430 to $520 a month.
I know that is low. I would rather you close this now than find out after you have written to me.
WHAT YOU MUST HAVE
All four of these. If you are missing one, this is not the job for you and I would rather you did not spend the time.
1. TWO YEARS INSIDE SELLER CENTRAL
Not two years around Amazon. Two years with the login in your
hand, doing the work yourself.
2. LISTINGS YOU BUILT OR REWROTE YOURSELF
And at least two live ASINs I can open right now. Not a
portfolio folder. Not a listing you follow or admire. Ones you
worked on.
3. REAL ADVERTISING EXPERIENCE
You have built and run campaigns yourself, not watched someone
else run them. You can read a search term report without help.
A specialist will take over PPC strategy later; you will still
be in Campaign Manager every week.
4. ENGLISH GOOD ENOUGH TO WRITE LISTING COPY
It has to read naturally to a US buyer. Not translated, not
stiff.
Plus a stable connection and a quiet eight hours.
WHAT THIS JOB ACTUALLY IS
I sell private-label products on Amazon - 34 seller accounts, around 246 listings, across the US, UK, Canada and Australia. I am in Sydney. You would work Philippine hours that overlap with mine.
What you would actually be doing, most weeks:
- Writing and maintaining listings to a written spec - title, bullets, backend search terms, structured attributes
- Keyword research that feeds those listings
- Booking and tracking coupons, deals and promotions, and cancelling them on time
- Building and running advertising campaigns - reading the search term report, adjusting bids, adding negatives
- Producing listing images and A+ content, using AI tools where they help
- Fixing listing problems: suppressions, policy warnings, category errors, compliance appeals
- Daily checks on account health and policy notifications
- Product and competitor research when we are looking at something new
Most days are a queue of small tasks done exactly the same way. If that sounds dull to you, it will be, and you should not apply.
STRICT SOP COMPLIANCE
Everything runs from written procedures. When a procedure does not cover your case, you stop and ask - you do not fill the gap with your own judgement, even when your judgement is right. On 34 accounts, one good improvisation is fine and the tenth is expensive.
I will send you the procedures. Following them exactly is most of the job, and it is the main thing I am hiring for.
NICE, NOT REQUIRED
Google Ads, Meta ads, influencer outreach, AI video. Say so if you have it. It will not get you the job on its own and it will not lose you the job if you do not.
HOW TO APPLY
Put the word QUOKKA at the top of your reply, then answer these eight questions. Short answers are fine. Answers I can check are better than answers that sound good.
1. Give me two live ASINs you have personally worked on, and say what you did to each one. Links I can open right now. A link to a Drive folder or a portfolio PDF is not an answer to this question.
2. How many years have you personally worked inside Seller Central, and what do you do in there in a normal week?
3. Which of those ASINs did you run advertising on?
Send me one screenshot from Campaign Manager with the date range visible in the frame. Tell me what the numbers were when you took it over and what they were after, and be exact about which period each figure covers.
4. Walk me through booking a Lightning Deal or a coupon, from where you click to what you check afterwards.
5. Tell me about one suppressed listing or policy warning you personally handled. What was wrong, what did you do in Seller Central, and how long did it take?
6. A listing sells 4 units a day. You change the title on Monday. On Friday it sells 6. Did the title work? Explain your answer.
7. In one week, how many listings can you write to a written spec without the quality dropping? Give me a number, and tell me what slows you down.
8. Your rate, and when you could start.
BONUS QUESTION
Open any Amazon product that is currently #1 in its category. Tell me the three things you would change and why.
You are allowed to tell me it is already good and should be left alone. I am not testing whether you can find faults. I am testing whether your reasons hold up.
A FEW THINGS ABOUT HOW I WORK
I answer. If you do the work, you get a real reply, not silence.
If your answers get through, there is one test task. It is ninety minutes and it is unpaid. I am telling you that now rather than after you have written to me. It is the only unpaid thing I will ask you for, I will not extend it, and I will not change the terms once you have started.
Paid work is paid on time, by PayPal. If you do not have PayPal, say so now rather than after the work is done.
If I change my mind about something, I will tell you why.
