We run an established, high-volume direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand operating on WordPress/WooCommerce with a significant daily Google Ads and Shopping spend. We are looking for an experienced Technical E-Commerce Developer to stabilize our current infrastructure and lead a planned migration to Shopify.
In the short term, you will diagnose and resolve server-level crawling bottlenecks (Googlebot 4xx/rate-limiting errors in Google Merchant Center), optimize Cloudflare and database performance, and ensure conversion tracking remains intact. In the second phase, you will build and launch a parallel Shopify store featuring a decoupled custom product configurator (Kickflip API) with complete 301 URL redirect mapping and zero downtime. In order to be considered, when you apply to this job write edgar in the subject line when you contact us and include an audio file or link of you talking so that we can hear your English prior to interviewing you.
The applicant will need to work on US Central Time zone, 9AM-5PM M-F, 40 hrs/week with weekends off. It is a requirement that our new hire work on our time zone so that we can work together on our time to resolve any issues that need attention.
Job Responsibility
*Audit and optimize WooCommerce core performance, MySQL queries, and server caching (Cloudflare CDN, WAF rules, Redis/Memcached).
*Debug and fix Google Merchant Center product variation crawl issues (resolving 4xx client errors and rate-limiting blocks under heavy Googlebot traffic).
*Verify and maintain Google Ads conversion tracking tags and GA4 event delivery.
Set up external real-time uptime and synthetic checkout monitoring (Better Stack) with automated alerting.
*Architect and develop a parallel staging store on Shopify without disrupting the live WooCommerce operation.
*Integrate cloud visual customizer APIs (Kickflip) to map dynamic pricing and custom configuration line-items into Shopify checkout.
*Execute comprehensive database data migration and 301 redirect mapping to preserve historical SEO equity and Google Shopping URLs during final cutover.
Here are some questions for extra credit:
"How do you resolve Googlebot crawl rate-limiting (4xx errors) on WooCommerce variations in Cloudflare/hosting?"
"How do you map and protect SEO URLs and Google Shopping links during a WooCommerce to Shopify migration?"
"Have you integrated cloud customizers like Kickflip into Wordpress / Shopify? How do you map dynamic cart properties?"
