Project Overview:
We are looking for a skilled video editor to create a cinematic, modern commercial for La Cultura Festival 2026, a Latin cultural festival held at the Lynn waterfront in Massachusetts:
This is not meant to feel like a traditional event recap. The goal is to create a commercial that captures what it feels like to attend the festival and can be used to promote the event and organization going forward.
The festival includes live Latin music, dancing, food vendors, families and children's activities, a dominoes tournament, cultural representation, community interaction, and the waterfront environment. We want the final commercial to feel: Cinematic • Energetic • Modern • Cultural • Community-Focused • Exciting
The footage includes:
- Sony FX2 — 4K / 60fps / 10-bit
- Sony A7C — 4K / 24 or 30fps / 8-bit
- DJI Mini 3 Pro — 4K / 60fps drone footage
- None of the footage was recorded in S-Log.
Creative Direction / Editing Style:
This commercial should not feel like a chronological event recap or a random montage of festival clips. We want the editor to take the footage and build an experience that makes someone watching think: “I want to be there next year.”
We want intentional pacing rather than every shot moving at the same speed. Build energy throughout the commercial—use slower cinematic moments when appropriate, then allow the music, cuts, movement, and sound design to increase the energy during performances, dancing, food, and crowd moments.
We encourage creative techniques such as:
- Speed ramps and selective slow motion
- Match cuts and movement-based transitions
- Whip/pan transitions when naturally supported by the footage
- Punch-ins and subtle digital camera movement
- Layered sound design and natural festival audio
- Music-synchronized cuts
- Creative use of foreground and movement
- Drone footage used for scale and location
- Occasional split screens or multi-clip compositions if they strengthen the edit
- Tasteful text/motion graphics if they improve the commercial
- Strategic use of real festival audio underneath the music
Effects and transitions should feel intentional and professional, not over-edited. We care more about storytelling, pacing, shot selection, and emotion than using an effect on every cut.
Event Elements We Don't Want to Miss:
- The finished commercial should represent the full festival experience, not only the performances.
- Lynn Harbor / waterfront — establish the destination and outdoor setting
- Latin culture — flags, cultural details, clothing, signage, movement, and other visual representations
- Live music — bands, musicians, instruments, singers, and performance energy
- Dancing — salsa, bachata, merengue, crowd dancing, couples, and spontaneous moments
- Food — vendors, cooking, close-ups, serving, and people enjoying food
- Families & children — kids activities, bounce houses, parents, and genuine family moments
- Dominoes tournament — hands, pieces hitting the table, reactions, competition, and intensity
- Community — conversations, laughter, hugs, networking, groups of friends, and people enjoying the festival together
- Crowd energy — wide shots and tighter reactions that communicate the size and excitement of the event
- Festival branding & signage — enough to establish what and where the event is without turning the commercial into a sponsor reel
- Sponsors/partners — incorporate appropriate visibility where the footage supports it
- Lynn itself — this should feel like a Latin cultural celebration happening specifically in Lynn, not footage that could have come from any generic festival
Most importantly, look for human moments. A great reaction, someone dancing, a child having fun, food being handed to someone, dominoes slamming onto a table, musicians interacting with the crowd, or people laughing together may be more valuable than technically perfect footage.
By the end of the commercial, someone who wasn't at La Cultura Festival should understand:
- Where it happens.
- What happens there.
- Who it's for.
- What the culture feels like.
- Why they would want to attend.
Music:
The commercial needs Latin-inspired music that complements the energy and culture of the festival. The music must be properly licensed/copyright-free for commercial use and paid advertising. The selected editor should be able to provide the source/license information for the track if requested.
Deliverables & Timeline:
- Final Deliverable: 4K 16:9 commercial, approximately 45–90 seconds.
- Sample submission deadline: by Friday, October 09
- Editor selected: Monday, October 12
- First full draft: Thursday, October 15
- Final deadline: Monday, October 19
Revisions:
This project includes revisions through final approval. We expect approximately 3 consolidated revision rounds, although because this is our first time completing this type of project with this client, additional reasonable revisions may occasionally be necessary. We will not intentionally send dozens of small revision requests individually. Feedback will be collected and sent in organized batches whenever possible. The sooner the final commercial is completed and approved, the sooner payment will be released.
Our process will generally be:
Draft 1 → EntreDupe Review → Revised Draft → Client Review → Final Revisions → Approval
The editor should therefore be comfortable collaborating and making reasonable adjustments until the agreed commercial is complete.
Compensation: $300 USD total.
- Payment will be released after the final 4K commercial has been delivered and accepted.
*Please only apply if you are comfortable with the complete scope, revision process, deadlines, and payment terms.
REQUIRED SAMPLE EDIT:
We expect many applicants for this project, so we will be selecting the editor primarily based on a sample edit using the actual raw footage from the festival. Here's the raw footage:
If you're interested, create approximately 15–20 seconds showing us how you would approach the commercial. You do not need to complete the entire commercial. Even approximately 10 seconds is acceptable if you believe it strongly demonstrates your abilities, but 15–20 seconds is preferred because it gives us a better opportunity to evaluate your Pacing, Shot Selection, Transitions, Music, Sound Design, Color, Effects, Storytelling, Overall Editing Style.
You may watermark your sample. The sample is unpaid. Samples submitted by applicants who are not selected will not be published, reused, incorporated into the commercial, provided to the client for use, or used commercially. They are strictly for evaluating applicants. Only work produced by the editor ultimately hired for the project will be used.
There may be 20–30 applicants, so make your sample memorable. We're not necessarily looking for the person who uses the most effects—we're looking for someone who understands how to turn the footage into a polished commercial that makes people want to experience the festival.
