AI VIDEO EDITOR - ANIMATED STORYTELLING & UGC ADS - GERMAN MARKET CAT BRAND
Remote | Part-time, growing | Start: ASAP | $5 per hour
READ THIS FIRST
This post is long and applying will take you 30 to 45 minutes. That is on purpose.
We already have one AI video editor and a Creative Strategist. We now have more ads to build than one editor can produce, so I am hiring ONE more editor. I would rather get 5 serious applications than 200 copy-paste ones.
You will not be inventing anything. You get a finished script, a visual brief, the product assets, reference ads, and every tool paid for by us. What you need is to already be good at this, to follow a brief to the letter, and to deliver on time.
THE MOST IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT
You must already be able to do this work today. I am not hiring someone to learn AI video on my account and on my time.
And you must apply with a PORTFOLIO: links to finished videos or ads you made yourself. No portfolio, no reply. Tutorials, test renders, course projects and agency reels where I cannot tell which part was yours do not count.
ABOUT US
We run a cat supplement brand on Shopify, selling to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We do six figures per month and scale with paid ads on
Our bottleneck is the number of finished ads, not the budget. Ads burn out within a few weeks, and the more good ads we can put out, the bigger this brand gets. That is why this role exists.
HOW THE WORK REACHES YOU
- Our Creative Strategist writes every script and every brief. You never write copy and you never write German.
- Every job ("batch") gets its own Slack channel and a visual board: the script scene by scene, references, style and a deadline.
- You build the ad, check it against the brief, put the finished files into the job folder on Google Drive and post in the channel.
- The Creative Strategist reviews it. The goal is that it goes live without a single correction.
WHAT YOU WILL PRODUCE (all vertical 9:16)
- Animated storytelling ads - 3D Pixar-style characters (cats and their owners) telling a story across several scenes, with voiceover and captions
- AI UGC ads - a generated person on camera talking about the product, with their cat
- VSL and advertorial cuts - longer sales videos cut to a script, with captions
- 1:1 rebuilds of winning ads - same structure, same pacing, exactly one variable changed (a new hook or a new actor). "Close enough" is not a delivery.
- The finish: burned-in German captions inside the safe zone, hook in the first two seconds, levelled audio, no dead air, exported to spec
WHERE THIS JOB IS WON OR LOST
We have been doing this for a while now, and almost no correction is about skill. They are about reading the brief. These are the exact things that have cost us revision rounds so far:
1. A brief element is missed - a title card after the opening scene, one line that had to be emphasized, a specific pause. Before you build, go through the brief scene by scene and tick off every instruction. Before you deliver, do it again.
2. A word is split across two caption lines. Never. Captions break only between words.
3. Captions cover the product. The product always stays visible.
4. B-roll or stock-looking footage inside a storytelling ad. If the ad is a story, every shot belongs to the story. Use what the brief asks for.
5. German retyped instead of copied. Every German word is copied character for character from the script - capital letters, umlauts (ä ö ü ß) and numbers exactly as written. If the voiceover and the captions do not match, you ask. You do not guess.
6. Fixing one note and breaking another. A pause that was too short should not become too long. After every revision, watch the whole ad again, not only the part you changed.
If you read this list and think "that is obvious" - good. It is obvious. It still happens, and the person I hire is the one for whom it does not.
THE GERMAN PART - AND WHY IT IS NOT A PROBLEM
You do not need to speak a word of German. The Creative Strategist gives you the finished German script and approves the German on every ad. What I need is care with a language you do not speak: copy, never type, never "correct", and flag anything that looks off.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND COMMUNICATION
I do not need someone who never has a problem. People get sick, power goes out, typhoons happen, renders fail. Zero problem.
What ends this job is silence on a deadline. Deadlines are set in German time (Manila is six hours ahead). If you need longer, post it in the job channel BEFORE the deadline with a new time, and the deadline moves. That is all. Missing a deadline without a word is the one thing I cannot work with, because our ad launches are planned around your delivery.
Beyond that:
- You ask before you build when a brief is unclear - not after five wrong versions.
- You flag early if something in a script cannot be built the way it is written.
- You reply within your working day and you work independently, without being chased.
- You log your hours live in Clockify, and every entry says what you did and why.
WHAT YOU MUST BRING (hard requirements - no exceptions)
1. A PORTFOLIO - links to 2-3 finished videos or ads you made yourself. Own work only.
2. 2+ years of short-form video editing, and at least the last year of it with AI-generated footage.
3. AI video shipped in production - for clients, a brand or your own offers. Not tutorials, not test renders.
4. Hands-on with serious AI video generation (for example Kling, Veo, Higgsfield, Sora, Runway, Midjourney), and the judgment to redo a bad generation instead of shipping it.
5. Consistent characters - you can keep the same character looking the same across every scene of an ad.
6. CapCut or Premiere Pro for the cut, your pick.
7. Conversational English, written and spoken.
8. A computer that can actually handle video work, and reliable internet.
9. Willing to sign a freelance contract and an NDA before you get access to our assets.
10. Willing to do a short unpaid test (roughly one to two hours) before we get on a call.
BONUS (not required, but it moves you to the top of my list)
- 3D / Pixar-style character animation or claymation made with AI
- Paid ads experience, not just organic content
- Pet niche - cats especially
- After Effects
- You have edited in a language you do not speak
THE TOOLS - WE PAY FOR EVERYTHING
Every tool, every subscription and every generation credit is paid by us. You never spend your own money on this job. Our generation and voiceover stack is already set up, and you get access on day one. Tell me in your application which tools you are fastest in.
HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED
1. Revision rounds per job - the target is zero. Your first delivery should be ready to go live.
2. Deadlines - hit, or moved in time
3. German text exactly as in the script
4. Communication - we always know where you are
WORKING HOURS
- 100% remote from anywhere in the Philippines, asynchronous. No shift, no fixed hours. You get a brief, you deliver by the agreed deadline, and how you organize your day is your business.
- Right now roughly 10 to 15 hours per week. Work is given per batch. As we scale, the hours grow.
- A short written update every Thursday, and one fixed 30-minute video call per week with me and the Creative Strategist, camera on.
- English is our working language. Slack for communication, Google Drive for files, Clockify for hours.
COMPENSATION (all amounts in USD)
$5 per hour, for the hours you actually work, tracked in Clockify. At 10 to 15 hours per week that is roughly $200 to $320 per month today, and it grows with volume.
- Paid every two weeks via Wise
- Every tool, subscription and generation credit paid by us
- Bonuses when the business does well
- Paid Philippine public holidays
- 13th month bonus after one full year
- Freelance contract and NDA
- 30-day trial, then long-term
If you work with other clients, that is completely fine with me, as long as my deadlines are met.
STOP. READ THIS PART CAREFULLY.
The very first word of your application must be TUNA.
Not in the middle. Not at the end. The first word, on its own line, before anything else. Like this:
TUNA
Hi Erik, ...
If your message does not start with TUNA, I will not read it - no matter how good your portfolio is. Following an instruction exactly is the job.
HOW TO APPLY
Apply here through OnlineJobs.ph. Do not
1. YOUR PORTFOLIO. Links to 2-3 videos or ads YOU made. For each one: which tools you used, which parts were AI-generated, and what exactly your part was. If you have an animated or character-based piece, include it.
2. YOUR AI WORK. Pick one video you linked and walk me through how you made it - what you generated, what failed and what you had to redo. How do you keep a character looking the same across scenes?
3. YOUR CHECK BEFORE YOU DELIVER. You have just finished an ad from a detailed brief. Describe step by step what you check before you send it. Be concrete.
4. FOREIGN LANGUAGE. How do you make sure captions in a language you do not speak end up 100% correct on screen - no missing letters, no split words, no mismatch with the voiceover? Have you done this before? In which language?
5. YOUR SPEED AND YOUR SITUATION. How many finished 15-second vertical ads can you build in one working day, starting from a script? A real number, not "many". Which editing program and which computer do you use? When can you start, and how many hours per week can you commit? Are you okay with $5 per hour tracked in Clockify, and with a short unpaid test before we get on a call?
6. A 60-SECOND RECORDING OF YOURSELF SPEAKING ENGLISH. Loom, a voice message or an unlisted YouTube link. Introduce yourself and walk me through one of the videos you linked. No script, no editing - phone camera or just audio is completely fine. I want to hear how you speak English.
Applications that do not start with TUNA, skip any of the 6 questions or have no portfolio links will not be reviewed.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
1. I read your application and watch your portfolio.
2. Short unpaid test: one 15-second ad in German from our script and assets, roughly one to two hours of work, 48 hours to deliver.
3. Video call in English, camera on.
4. A paid trial job on a real brief, then we start the 30-day trial.
I read every application that follows the instructions, and I reply fast. If this sounds like you, apply today.
