We are looking for an experienced accountant or bookkeeper to help us organize and document all of the financial liabilities and obligations related to our e-commerce business.
Our business operates across multiple jurisdictions, so we need someone who can help us build a clear system showing what we owe, where we owe it, when payments or filings are due, and what documentation needs to be maintained.
The main goal of this project is organization and visibility. We want to create a central document and folder structure where all liabilities, supporting documents, deadlines, and jurisdiction-specific requirements can be easily tracked.
Responsibilities will include:
* Review our current business structure, accounts, transactions, and existing records.
* Identify and categorize liabilities such as taxes, VAT/GST/sales tax, corporate obligations, accounts payable, loans, credit cards, fees, and other outstanding obligations.
* Organize liabilities by company/entity and jurisdiction.
* Create a master spreadsheet or document showing amounts owed, due dates, status, responsible entity, jurisdiction, and supporting documentation.
* Create an organized folder structure for invoices, tax documents, government notices, payment confirmations, accounting records, and related files.
* Help identify missing information or records we need to collect.
* Flag upcoming deadlines, overdue obligations, and areas that may require attention from a local accountant or tax professional.
* Help establish a process that can be maintained going forward.
Our business is primarily e-commerce, so experience with online businesses, international transactions, payment processors, marketplaces, sales tax/VAT, and multi-country operations is highly preferred.
We are looking for someone who is extremely organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with incomplete or messy financial records, and able to turn them into a clear and structured system.
When applying, please include:
1. Your experience with e-commerce businesses.
2. Your experience handling businesses operating across multiple jurisdictions.
3. Which countries/jurisdictions you are familiar with.
4. Whether you have experience with sales tax, VAT/GST, corporate tax obligations, and cross-border transactions.
5. An example of how you would structure a master liabilities tracker for this type of business.
6. **A short video, no longer than 2 minutes, introducing yourself and telling us why you think you would be a good fit to work with us.** Please include a link to the video at the end of your application.
Applications without the short video may not be considered.
This could become an ongoing bookkeeping/accounting role if the initial organization project goes well.
