JOB OVERVIEW

AI-Powered Full-Stack Developer
Full-Time | Remote | Asia

MedAlert is looking for a highly capable, AI-native developer who knows how to use tools like Claude Code and Claude to build software quickly, solve technical problems and take ownership of a growing ecosystem of applications, websites, automations and infrastructure.

This is not a traditional full-stack development role.

We are specifically looking for someone who has embraced AI-powered software development and understands how to use AI as the primary development engine, while still having enough technical knowledge to understand the code, diagnose issues, work with APIs, manage servers and make good technical decisions.

We move quickly and expect the person in this role to do the same.

You might be the right person if you are the type of developer who can be given an idea in the morning, work through it with Claude Code, solve the technical problems as they arise and have a functional version running later that day.

About MedAlert

MedAlert provides personal medical alert watches and connected technology designed to help monitor and protect elderly and vulnerable people.

Behind the watches is a growing technology platform covering watch management, alerts, health information, reseller management, mobile applications, SIM connectivity, billing, fulfilment and automation.

We are now looking for someone to take technical ownership of this ecosystem and continue improving it.

What You Will Be Responsible For

You will become the primary technical person responsible for maintaining, improving and building MedAlert's software systems.

Your work will cover a mixture of software development, AI-assisted development, infrastructure, integrations, automation, product development and technical support.

MedAlert Guardian Platform

We have developed a watch management platform that allows users to manage MedAlert watches and monitor watch wearers.

The platform includes functionality such as:

* Watch registration and management
* Wearer profiles
* Fall alerts
* SOS and other watch alerts
* Step tracking
* Health information and AI-powered health metrics
* Notifications and automated alerts
* Device monitoring
* Account management

The platform also includes a reseller portal where MedAlert resellers can:

* Create and manage reseller accounts
* Manage watch inventory
* Allocate watches to customers
* Manage their end clients
* Monitor devices and accounts

You will be responsible for maintaining and improving this platform, developing new functionality and helping shape the product as it evolves.

MedAlert Guardian Mobile App

We have also developed a mobile application using **Claude Code and Expo**, connected to the MedAlert Guardian platform.

You will take ownership of the app and continue developing new features, improving performance and maintaining the integration between the mobile app and the wider MedAlert platform.

Websites and New Digital Products

You will work with the MedAlert leadership team to redesign and improve existing websites and build new websites using Claude Code and AI-powered development.

We also have a new children's watch brand being launched, and one of your upcoming projects will be developing the new website and digital experience for that brand.

Strong experience using **Claude Design and AI-assisted design workflows** will be highly valued.

You do not need to be a traditional graphic designer. We are looking for someone who knows how to collaborate with leadership, turn rough ideas into strong designs and then build them quickly using AI.

Internal Tools and Automation

MedAlert operates several internal services and automation tools deployed across **Render and DigitalOcean**.

These systems perform functions including:

* Subscription billing automation
* Email automations
* SIM card activation and deactivation
* Watch provisioning
* Internal workflows
* Shopify integrations
* ShipBob fulfilment automation
* API integrations between platforms
* Webhook-based automations

You will take ownership of these systems, troubleshoot them when something breaks and improve them over time.

Infrastructure and Server Monitoring

MedAlert also operates a GPS relay server hosted on a **DigitalOcean Droplet**.

This server receives inbound data directly from MedAlert watches and relays that information into the MedAlert Guardian platform.

You will need to understand how this system works and be responsible for:

* Monitoring server availability
* Investigating outages
* Reviewing logs
* Troubleshooting connectivity issues
* Maintaining services
* Deploying updates
* Diagnosing API and network issues
* Ensuring inbound watch data continues flowing correctly

When something goes down, we need someone who can work out what happened and get it working again quickly.

Hardware and Watch Expertise

This role goes beyond software.

You will become one of MedAlert's internal technical experts on the watches themselves.

You will learn:

* How the watches communicate with our servers
* SIM connectivity and mobile network behaviour
* GPS communication
* Device configuration
* Watch firmware and software behaviour
* Data protocols
* Alerts and notifications
* Hardware troubleshooting
* Watch provisioning

You will work directly with our manufacturer's technical contact when required to obtain documentation, understand device behaviour and troubleshoot issues.

You may also occasionally join Zoom calls with MedAlert staff, partners or resellers to explain technical issues or provide second-level technical support.

The Type of Developer We Want

We are not looking for someone who spends days manually writing code that Claude Code could produce in an hour.

We want someone who understands modern AI-powered development and knows how to combine AI with solid software fundamentals.

Your workflow should naturally involve tools like Claude Code throughout the development process.

You should be comfortable using AI to:

* Build applications
* Generate and refactor code
* Debug technical issues
* Design interfaces
* Build APIs
* Create database structures
* Analyse logs
* Understand unfamiliar codebases
* Build integrations
* Write tests
* Deploy applications
* Research technical problems
* Rapidly prototype new ideas

At the same time, you need enough technical knowledge to recognise when AI has produced bad code, understand why something is failing and make sensible architectural decisions.

Technical Skills

You do not need to be a senior traditional software engineer, but you should have strong working knowledge of:

What matters more is that you can learn new systems quickly and use AI effectively to understand and work within unfamiliar technologies.

You may have around **2 to 3+ years of development experience**, although we care much more about what you can actually build than the number of years on your CV.

We are particularly interested in people who are:

* Comfortable working across software, infrastructure and hardware

* Comfortable experimenting and finding solutions rather than waiting for detailed specifications

You should have advanced verbal and written English.

You will primarily work internally, although you may occasionally participate in Zoom calls with MedAlert staff, suppliers, partners or resellers where technical input is required.

Working Arrangements

This is a **full-time remote role working approximately 8 hours per day, 5 days per week**.

We are open to candidates throughout Asia, including:

Your working hours should overlap with the Sydney business day so you can collaborate with the MedAlert leadership team.

What Success Looks Like

Within the first few months, we would expect you to understand the majority of MedAlert's technical ecosystem and be comfortable taking ownership of it.

You should become the person the team goes to when:

* A server stops responding
* An API integration breaks
* A reseller portal feature needs to be added
* We want to launch a new website
* A Shopify automation needs changing
* A watch is behaving unexpectedly
* We want a new feature added to MedAlert Guardian
* We need to automate a manual process
* We have a new product idea and want to prototype it quickly

The role suits someone who enjoys having broad ownership and wants to work with a company where they can build real products rather than work on one tiny part of a large engineering team.
