# STRUCTURAL ENGINEER / BIM & CAD COORDINATION ENGINEER
**Remote Position — Philippines**
**U.S.-Based Construction / Engineering Company**
We are seeking a highly capable **Structural Engineer with strong CAD, BIM, and multidisciplinary coordination experience** to join our engineering and construction team remotely from the Philippines.
This is **not a basic drafting position**.
We need someone who understands how a building actually goes together—from foundations and reinforced concrete through structural framing, architectural systems, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, fire protection, penetrations, equipment, and construction sequencing.
The right candidate must be able to review multiple disciplines together, identify conflicts before they reach the field, develop coordinated solutions, and produce accurate professional drawings suitable for U.S. construction projects.
## KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
You will assist with the structural engineering, design development, drafting, BIM coordination, and constructability review of residential, commercial, industrial, and specialty construction projects.
Responsibilities include:
* Prepare structural plans, sections, elevations, details, schedules, and construction drawings.
* Develop and modify drawings using **AutoCAD and Revit**.
* Build and maintain coordinated BIM models.
* Review architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, civil, and fire-protection drawings together.
* Perform **clash detection and conflict-control reviews** before drawings reach construction.
* Identify conflicts involving:
* Structural beams and ductwork
* Plumbing through beams, slabs, foundations, and grade beams
* Electrical conduits and structural reinforcement
* Mechanical equipment and structural framing
* Roof penetrations
* Floor penetrations and sleeves
* Shafts and risers
* Underground utilities
* Foundation systems
* Ceiling-space congestion
* Equipment clearances
* Access and maintenance clearances
* Coordinate MEP penetrations through reinforced-concrete walls and slabs.
* Review structural openings before concrete placement.
* Identify conditions that could create field change orders, RFIs, rework, or schedule delays.
* Perform constructability reviews.
* Review drawings for dimensional inconsistencies and missing information.
* Overlay drawings from different disciplines to identify conflicts.
* Maintain clash/conflict logs and track each issue through resolution.
* Prepare RFIs and technical coordination questions when design information is incomplete.
* Incorporate field redlines and as-built conditions into drawings.
* Review shop drawings and submittals for coordination with the design documents.
* Assist with structural calculations and engineering analysis.
* Develop structural details for reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, wood framing, foundations, retaining walls, slabs, and related systems.
* Coordinate engineering revisions across all affected sheets rather than making isolated drawing changes.
* Maintain drawing revision control.
* Participate in remote coordination meetings with project management, field personnel, subcontractors, engineers, and other design disciplines.
## STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING KNOWLEDGE
Candidates should have working knowledge of:
* Reinforced concrete
* Cast-in-place concrete

* Temporary construction conditions and sequencing
Experience with **complex reinforced-concrete structures, below-grade structures, large foundations, retaining systems, or heavily coordinated MEP projects** is strongly preferred.
## MEP COORDINATION KNOWLEDGE
You do not need to be the engineer of record for every MEP discipline, but you **must understand how MEP systems interact with the structure.**
You should be comfortable reviewing:
### Mechanical
* HVAC equipment
* Ductwork
* Mechanical shafts
* Equipment pads
* Roof penetrations
* Required service clearances
### Plumbing
* Sanitary piping
* Domestic water

* Clearances
* Major electrical equipment locations
### Fire Protection
* Sprinkler mains
* Branch piping
* Risers
* Penetrations
* Coordination around beams, ducts, ceilings, and other building systems
The objective is simple:
**Find the conflict on the computer—not after concrete has been poured or construction has begun.**
## SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
Strong proficiency is expected in:
* **AutoCAD**
* **Autodesk Revit**
* PDF drawing review and markup software such as **Bluebeam Revu**
Experience with the following is highly preferred:
* Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360
* Navisworks Manage
* Revit clash/coordination workflows
* Tekla Structures
* Civil 3D
* ETABS
* SAFE
* SAP2000
* STAAD.Pro
* RISA
* RAM Structural System or similar structural-analysis software
* Microsoft Excel
You do not need to know every program listed, but you must be highly competent with professional CAD/BIM workflows and capable of learning additional software quickly.
## U.S. CODE EXPERIENCE
Because our projects are primarily based in the United States, candidates should have experience with or be capable of working with standards such as:
* International Building Code (IBC)
* ASCE 7
* ACI 318
* AISC 360
* AISC Steel Construction Manual
* TMS masonry requirements where applicable
* NDS wood design requirements where applicable
* Local amendments and project-specific design criteria
Knowledge of U.S. construction-document standards, terminology, dimensions, specifications, and permitting processes is strongly preferred.
## QUALITY CONTROL EXPECTATIONS
We expect extremely high drawing quality.
Before a drawing package is considered complete, you should be checking:
* Dimensions
* Elevations
* Gridlines
* Column locations
* Wall locations
* Beam depths
* Slab thicknesses
* Foundation elevations
* Reinforcement
* Openings
* Sleeves
* Penetrations
* Equipment locations
* MEP routing
* Section references
* Detail references
* Sheet references
* Drawing notes
* Revision consistency
* Constructability
* Conflicts between disciplines
You must be willing to question a drawing when something does not make engineering or construction sense.
We do **not** want someone who simply copies redlines without understanding the purpose of the design.
## REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
* Professional experience in structural engineering and/or structural design.
* Strong AutoCAD experience.
* Strong understanding of construction drawings.

* Preparing permit or IFC construction-document packages
Philippine professional engineering credentials are welcomed but are not a substitute for demonstrated technical ability and construction understanding.
## WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are specifically looking for an engineer who thinks beyond their individual drawing.
For example, if you see a plumbing line passing through a structural grade beam, we expect you to identify it.
If an HVAC duct cannot pass beneath a beam while maintaining the required ceiling elevation, identify it.
If a structural column conflicts with an architectural doorway, identify it.
If electrical equipment does not have sufficient working clearance, identify it.
If a penetration is shown through a heavily reinforced concrete wall but no structural opening has been coordinated, identify it **before construction**.
We want someone who thinks:
**“How will they actually build this?”**
—not simply:
**“Does my drawing look correct?”**
## WORKING RELATIONSHIP
This is a remote Philippines-based position supporting a U.S. construction and engineering organization.
The engineer will work directly with company leadership, project managers, construction personnel, subcontractors, and other engineering disciplines.
Some schedule overlap with **U.S. Central Time** will be required for coordination meetings and project communication.
Depending on experience and performance, this position can develop into a long-term engineering leadership role with responsibility for multidisciplinary coordination, BIM standards, drawing quality control, and engineering production.
## HOW TO APPLY
Please submit:
1. Resume/CV.
2. Years of structural engineering experience.
3. Years of AutoCAD experience.
4. Years of Revit/BIM experience.
