JOB OVERVIEW

Remote — Full-Time | $1,000 USD/Month

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a reliable and technically strong **WordPress Developer & SEO Website Manager** to take primary responsibility for the ongoing health, maintenance, security, and performance of our WordPress websites and hosting environment.

The most important responsibility of this role is keeping our websites and server environment properly maintained and proactively identifying issues before they become larger problems.

You will regularly work inside **WP Engine** to monitor and maintain our WordPress sites, update WordPress core, themes, plugins, and PHP versions, test websites after updates, monitor for security or performance issues, and work directly with WP Engine support when hosting or technical problems arise.

In addition to technical website maintenance, you will make routine content updates, publish blog posts, optimize website pages for SEO and AI search visibility, and assist with other WordPress development needs as they arise.

You will work directly with our project leadership team and receive clear priorities, written instructions, and ongoing direction. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of assigned responsibilities, communicates proactively, tests their work carefully, and alerts the team quickly when they identify technical, security, hosting, or website issues.

This is a hands-on website management role, not simply a support or ticket-response position.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

WordPress Maintenance & Website Health

Your primary responsibility will be keeping our WordPress websites secure, updated, stable, and functioning properly.

Responsibilities include:

* Monitor and maintain all WordPress websites on an ongoing basis.
* Keep WordPress core versions current.
* Update WordPress themes and plugins.
* Monitor and update PHP versions as needed.
* Test websites thoroughly after updates.
* Identify plugin conflicts, broken functionality, display issues, or errors.
* Monitor website speed, uptime, and overall technical health.
* Check for outdated or unsupported plugins and themes.
* Identify potential website or server security concerns.
* Proactively communicate technical issues, risks, or recommendations.
* Maintain backups and confirm restoration options are available when needed.
* Troubleshoot issues before escalating when possible.
* Document significant maintenance, updates, or technical changes.

WP Engine Hosting Management

A significant part of this role involves working directly inside WP Engine.

You will:

* Manage development, staging, and production environments.
* Perform website backups and restores.
* Push changes between staging and production environments.
* Review WP Engine technical alerts and recommendations.
* Troubleshoot website and hosting issues.
* Work directly with **WP Engine support** when problems require hosting-level assistance.
* Follow up with support until issues are fully resolved.
* Monitor PHP compatibility and hosting requirements.
* Investigate server errors, performance issues, caching problems, SSL issues, DNS-related problems, and other hosting concerns.
* Clearly communicate the issue, resolution, and any recommended next steps to our team.

We need someone who is comfortable reaching out to technical support rather than allowing unresolved hosting issues to remain open.

WEBSITE SECURITY

You will help maintain the security of all websites and proactively identify potential vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities may include:

* Monitor website security using tools such as **Wordfence**.
* Identify suspicious login attempts or website activity.
* Conduct routine plugin and theme security reviews.
* Remove or replace outdated or vulnerable plugins.
* Assist with credential management and password updates.
* Monitor SSL certificates and website security warnings.
* Investigate malware, redirects, spam, or suspicious website behavior.
* Escalate security concerns immediately.
* Coordinate with WP Engine support or other vendors when needed.

WEBSITE CONTENT UPDATES

You will also be responsible for routine website updates requested by our team or clients.

This may include:

* Updating website copy.
* Replacing images.
* Adding or updating team members.
* Updating services or product information.
* Creating or modifying website pages.
* Updating forms and calls to action.
* Updating navigation menus.
* Adding downloadable resources.
* Making layout or formatting changes.
* Troubleshooting broken links or website elements.

You should be comfortable working with WordPress builders and frameworks including:

* Elementor
* Avada
* Gutenberg
* ACF
* Custom WordPress themes
* PHP, HTML, CSS, and basic JavaScript

BLOG PUBLISHING

You will publish blog content provided by our marketing or content teams.

Responsibilities include:

* Format and publish WordPress blog posts.
* Apply proper heading hierarchy.
* Add and optimize images.
* Add internal and external links.
* Add calls to action.
* Configure categories and tags.
* Create appropriate URLs.
* Add featured images.
* Optimize blog posts for desktop and mobile.
* Check posts before publication.
* Confirm links and formatting are working correctly.

SEO & AI SEARCH OPTIMIZATION

You will help ensure website pages and blog posts follow current SEO and AI-search best practices.

Responsibilities include:

* Optimize page titles and meta descriptions.
* Review heading structure.
* Optimize URLs.
* Add image alt text.
* Improve internal linking.
* Implement schema and structured data where appropriate.
* Work with plugins such as **Yoast SEO or RankMath**.
* Monitor indexing and website errors in Google Search Console.
* Assist with keyword optimization.
* Review technical SEO issues.
* Apply **AIO, AEO, and GEO** best practices.
* Structure content for visibility within:

* Google Search
* Google AI Overviews
* ChatGPT
* Other AI-powered search and answer engines

This may include implementing:

* FAQ schema
* HowTo schema
* Answer-first content structures
* Clear heading hierarchy
* Structured data
* Internal entity relationships
* Improved crawlability and content clarity

Experience with tools such as SEMrush, Google Analytics, and Google Search Console is preferred.

WORDPRESS DEVELOPMENT

While this role is primarily focused on website maintenance and management, you should also be comfortable handling development tasks when needed.

This may include:

* Building new WordPress pages.
* Modifying website templates.
* Creating or editing reusable modules.
* Working with ACF custom fields.
* Making PHP, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript updates.
* Troubleshooting theme or plugin code.
* Working with GitHub repositories.
* Creating branches and pull requests.
* Testing changes in staging environments.
* Implementing third-party integrations.
* Connecting websites with CRM, booking, scheduling, or marketing platforms.

API & PLATFORM INTEGRATIONS

Experience working with APIs and integrations is important.

You may work with platforms such as:

* GoHighLevel
* Booking and scheduling platforms
* CRM systems
* Email marketing platforms
* Lead-generation forms
* Zapier or similar automation platforms
* Google services
* Analytics and tracking systems

Direct experience with GoHighLevel is a strong advantage.

USING AI TOOLS

We actively use AI tools to increase productivity and expect our developer to be comfortable doing the same.

Tools may include:

* ChatGPT
* Claude / Claude Code
* GitHub Copilot
* Cursor
* Other AI development tools

AI may be used to:

* Troubleshoot WordPress problems.
* Analyze code.
* Debug plugin conflicts.
* Develop PHP, CSS, or JavaScript.
