JOB OVERVIEW

Mālama Solar is looking for an experienced Solar Project Coordinator based in the Philippines to help manage residential solar projects through permitting, utility approval, and other pre-installation milestones.

Hawaiʻi solar experience is required for this position. We are specifically looking for someone who has previously worked on residential solar projects in Hawaiʻi and understands the permitting and utility approval process.

This is not an entry-level solar position. We are looking for someone who can step in, understand the workflow, stay organized, follow up consistently, and help move projects forward without needing constant supervision.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

You will help manage solar projects from completed sale through installation readiness, including:

Preparing and submitting permit applications
Tracking building permit approvals with Hawaiʻi permitting jurisdictions
Preparing and submitting utility/interconnection applications
Working with HECO and related utility approval processes
Monitoring projects for missing documents, corrections, and outstanding requirements
Responding to permit and utility correction requests
Following up regularly on applications that are waiting for approval
Coordinating with design, engineering, sales, operations, and installation teams
Keeping project statuses, notes, documents, and deadlines updated in our systems
Identifying projects that are stalled and taking action to move them forward
Communicating clearly with internal team members regarding project status and next steps
Helping ensure projects are fully ready before they are released for installation

Depending on experience, you may also assist with HOA approvals, NEM/interconnection documentation, inspection-related paperwork, equipment changes, and other project coordination tasks.

Required Experience

Please do not apply unless you have previous solar experience in Hawaiʻi.

Qualified applicants should have experience with several of the following:

Residential solar permitting in Hawaiʻi
HECO interconnection or utility applications
City & County of Honolulu permitting
Hawaiʻi County, Maui County, or Kauaʻi permitting
Solar plansets and permit documentation
Battery storage projects
PV + battery projects
Permit corrections and resubmissions
Utility corrections and resubmissions
Project management or solar operations
CRM/project management software

Experience working with products such as Tesla Powerwall, Enphase, FranklinWH, or similar solar and battery systems is helpful.

“What can I do today to move each of these projects forward?”

Work Schedule

This is a full-time remote position based in the Philippines.

Because you will be working with our Hawaiʻi team, applicants must be comfortable having some overlap with Hawaiʻi business hours.
